Parents asked to provide feedback on State Survey
Opening tomorrow: Jan 23
Through the Illinois State Board of Education, parents have an opportunity to share their thoughts on the important elements of Leyden’s school effectiveness in a state survey called 5Essentials. This survey will be emailed to families tomorrow, and provides Leyden administrators with important information that helps to better understand the needs of our parents, students and staff.
In order to remain compliant with this state requirement, Leyden needs a minimum of 20-percent participation from parents, students and staff. Input is kept confidential and helps us understand our families and as we make decisions moving forward.
We encourage parents to please share feelings, insights, and perspective with us via this survey, which will remain open through March 29. Students and staff will have the option to participate in this survey during a scheduled time in the near future.
SAT prep class registration opens
Leyden offers an SAT prep class which includes nine evening classes and an optional Saturday practice test. Students will get the opportunity to take four total practice exams and receive 18 hours of classroom instruction delivered by Leyden teachers before taking the official SAT on April 16. Students who attend all sessions typically increase their scores by an average of 120 points.
Classes begin February 7, and run through April 11, meeting one evening per week. Students may choose to attend at East (Wednesdays) or West (Thursdays), and may select 3:15 p.m. - 6:15 p.m. or 6 p.m. - 9 p.m. Students may attend at either campus, regardless of their home school. The class is open to all Leyden students at a cost of $50.
