What's Up At The Nest...
Principal's Message
We can't believe that today was the last day of school for our students! What a wonderful day it was. We were able to Zoom with almost every class and ended our day with a Zumba Zoom and Hoot, Hoot, Hoorays! While today was our official last day for students our teachers have prepared additional activities for your children next week. The last Remote Landing Page will be shared Sunday evening. Please note that our staff will be engaging in professional development and additional district activities next week and will not be available via Zoom or email as they have been. We will do our best to respond to your emails throughout the week.
Please enjoy our last Kids Heart Video - FINAL CUT!

Directions for Monday and Tuesday - Material Pick Up and Drop Off
On Monday and Tuesday, we will be at OMS for our materials exchange. Please bring back any item that your child has that belongs to the school. (LMC books, classroom books or materials, technology, etc) The video linked below will show you what to expect and how you can help us make Monday and Tuesday run smoothly. (Thank you to Mr. Larson at Patton for sharing his video with us!)

TECHNOLOGY RETURN
Place all borrowed technology in the bag it was delivered in. Refer to the sheet that came with the device to make sure you include all charging bricks, cables, and power cords.
Please do not attempt to clean the devices.
Make sure the bag is labeled with your family's name.
Put the bag in your trunk along with your LMC and classroom return bags.
June 4th All School Reverse Parade
On Thursday, June 4, 2020, at 10 am we invite you and your children to drive through the main entrance loop to wave goodbye to your teachers and staff. We want everyone to feel comfortable and safe. We also recognize that not all families and staff will be comfortable or able to participate in this event.
For the safety of our staff and your families, we have some very clear guidelines to follow. Please read and adhere to these instructions.
SAFETY
We ask that you drive slowly and do not stop the car line to talk. You can say hello out of the car window to staff as you drive through the lot. PLEASE NO STOPPING!
You may not exit your car.
Do not pass items to the teachers, not even notes.
Staff will be following social distance guidelines both with each other and the cars coming through.
Stay in the car line the entire time.
DRIVERS CAN NOT BE USING CELL PHONES or VIDEO RECORDING
This is truly to see everyone, because we miss you!
DIRECTIONS
Please do not arrive before 10 am so staff members have a chance to set up safely.
All cars will enter and exit through the main entrance (just like pick up and drop off).
We are asking for families to stagger their arrival times to help lessen any backups along the residential roads leading up to OMS.
A-F → 10:00 - 10:15
G-L→ 10:15 - 10:30
M-S → 10:30 - 10:45
T-Z → 10:45 - 11:00
We will be on site until 11:30 am or until all cars have exited the lot.
When you exit the parking lot, please turn right to maintain good traffic flow.
Teachers will be stationed along the sidewalk of the main drive, socially distanced from each other and your vehicles. We ask for your patience as cars are moving through the drive, and follow the above timeline to the best of your ability. Again, please make sure that everyone stays in the vehicle. We are really looking forward to seeing so many of you in person!
Register, Register, Register for 20-21
REGISTRATION FOR 2020-21 SCHOOL YEAR
We need your help in our planning for next year! On Monday, May 4, parents received an email from the district with student-specific online registration instructions for all students returning or pre-registered for the 2020-21 school year. If you have not already done so, please complete your child's registration ASAP. Completed registrations help us figure out our staffing and classroom sections for next year. In addition, bus transportation fees increase by $25 for students registered after 5/31.
NEW TO THE AREA AND OMS?
If you or someone you know needs to pre-register a NEW student, please use the links below. Once we have received the online pre-registration, our office staff will contact you regarding next steps.
MOVING OUT OF OMS AND NOT ATTENDING NEXT YEAR?
If you have a child in Kindergarten or 1st-4th grade who will NOT be attending OMS next year, please email your current teacher and Mrs. Kappelman and Mrs. Tucker so that we may plan accordingly. (ckappelman@sd25.org, atucker@sd25.org)
Lunch Account Balances
Lunch Account Balances
This is a reminder that if there is a balance left over in your student’s lunch account, that balance will be carried over for your student to use during the 2020-2021 school year. However, due to the extenuating circumstances caused by COVID-19, you have an option to request that the balance be returned to you via check at the end of this school year. Our Department of Food services will only honor this request if the leftover balance is greater than $10. If you would like that balance returned to you, please call the Department of Food Services at (847) 758-4883.
Summer Keyboard Challenge!
It’s time for the 6th annual District Keyboard Challenge! Go to TypingTraining.com this summer and earn minutes for our school. If each of us practiced for just 30 minutes a week, we will capture the Golden Keyboard from Patton. Plus the top typer at our school will be recognized at a District Meeting. An email with each student’s username and password for the Typing Training site will be sent to parents the week of June 1st. All you have to do is go to typingtraining.com starting June 8th and practice until August 7th.
