Student Supply Drop-Off

It was great to see so many of you at this afternoon's Supply Drop Off. If you were not able to make it, the school will also be open this evening from 6:00 P.M. to 7:30 P.M. to drop off supplies in the classrooms. Please note though that not all staff will be in the building for the evening option.

Students walking to and from school should utilize crossing guards.
Staff members monitoring student drop off at the designated grade level doorways enter the building at 8:25 a.m. Students arriving after 8:30a.m. must enter through the Main Office.
Students being dropped off by car at Door 2 will enter Door 2 and walk to their designated grade level door.
Students walking to school will line up by their designated grade level door
Traveling east on 92nd St past 52nd Ct is not permitted during drop-off times.
52nd Ct. is one way north from 8:00 a.m. to 8:45 a.m. and from 3:00 p.m. to 3:45 p.m

Road Work

Please note that there is some roadwork that is being done on 52nd Avenue at the intersection of 91st Street and also at 92nd Street. Please note that this doesn't change any expectations in regards to parking but do be mindful of it when dropping off or picking up your children.

Drop Off Lane

If you are utilizing our Drop Off Lane in the morning for your students, in order to create a safe and timely procedure, please note a few things:

When using the Drop Off Lane, all students enter the building through Door 2
When entering the Drop Off Lane, pull forward as much as possible. When you are stopped anywhere along the purple curb, your student(s) are to exit the car.
Have students exit the car on the passenger side as much as possible.

Lunch Information

Our first student lunch will be on Thursday, August 18th for our Grade 1 - Grade 5 students.

Beginning with the 2022-23 school year on August 17, families who do not qualify for free or reduced lunch will have to pay for school meals. Students whose families are eligible for free or reduced-price breakfast or lunch will be able to access meals next school year at no cost or a discounted rate. The cost for a lunch (including milk) is $3.05. The cost for an a la carte milk is 60 cents.

At this time, the federal government has not extended the waivers for next school year to allow free meals for all students. As a result, schools across the nation will be reverting back to free and reduced-price meals based on income eligibility guidelines set by the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

PTO Information

Our first PTO Meeting of the school year will be coming up on Tuesday, August 30th 6:00 P.M. Our meetings take place approximately one a month and will be held at Covington Elementary School in the Staff Lounge.

Our PTO can only run our events with the help of our amazing families. Please consider signing up for one of our yearly events or committees by going to PTO Event Committee SignUp or for our Back to School event coming up on Friday, August 26th by visiting PTO Back to School Event SignUp

Event Information

New Parent/Family Breakfast

Our annual Covington New Family Breakfast will take place next Friday, August 19th at 8:45 A.M. If you're a new family, I hope that you can join us. After dropping off your student(s) for dismissal, come to the main office. We will be having our breakfast in the our Multipurpose Room. It is a great opportunity to ask any questions you might have, hear more about our PTO and how to get involved, and meet other new families!
