The Eagle Edition
Edison Elementary ~ October 23, 2023
Note from the Principals
Last week we brought grade levels together for mini-assemblies to introduce The Energy Bus, a picture book that we purchased for each of our classrooms. This book tells a story about the importance of having a positive vision, surrounding yourself with others who are positive, loving those around you, not allowing "energy vampires" to give you a "flat tire", and simply enjoying the ride of life! The students had fun while learning some valuable lessons!
A special thank you goes to PTO for planning the Fall Fun Fest! Many students and families attended and enjoyed the festivities. We appreciate all the volunteers for making this a successful and memorable event.
We look forward to seeing you during Parent-Teacher Conferences on 10/26, 11/2, and 11/6. We are now in the 2nd Quarter, and 1st Quarter grades are able to be viewed in the Parent Portal on Wednesday, October 25th. If you need assistance accessing the Parent Portal, please contact our school office.

Library Cards
Dear Parents/Guardians:
All Willoughby-Eastlake K-12 students will automatically receive a Willoughby-Eastlake Public library card as part of our community partnership with the public library system. If your child already has a library card, they will not receive a new one.
Cards are being issued for any newly enrolled students on a quarterly basis.
If you have questions about the library card, please contact the W-E Public Library. You may reach them by calling Sarah Vargo, 440-943-2203, or via email: sarah.vargo@welibrary.info.
Thank you.
Willoughby-Eastlake City Schools
ALICE Drill
This email was sent out by the district to all families:
Dear Families,
All Willoughby-Eastlake City Schools will engage in ALICE safety drills prior to October 31, 2023. The schedules will vary by school building.
ALICE is an acronym for safety protocols: Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, and Evacuate.
Staff in each of the classrooms will provide age-appropriate training and discussions about safety and what to do in an emergency. Just like fire drills and tornado drills, the lockdown drills are required by law. After the classroom training, each school building will practice a lockdown drill.
A link to Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) about ALICE is provided below.
Thank you for supporting the district and being a partner in creating a safe learning environment for all students and staff.
Brian Patrick, Director of Human Resources, Safety and Security
Steve Johnson, Coordinator of Safety and Security
One additional note: There is an outdoor blue light near the main entrance to our building (and all WE buildings). If this light is turned on, that indicates that we are in a lockdown procedure and you should not approach the building until it is turned off. Thank you!
