News for TMS Families Week of SPRING BREAK
Principal Updates
Dear Trailside Families,
Happy spring to all of our families! Please note that students return on Tuesday, April 19th. This will be the first day of the fourth quarter.
We are receiving an increasing number of reports in regards to students hanging at Trailside Park after school and not going home first. Some of the reports include students who are fighting or encountering other at risk behaviours. We are encouraging parents to please have your students report home before going out to play. If for any reason your child encounters something on their way home that is unsafe, please contact the Loudoun County Sheriff's office.
All my best,
Bridget M. Beichler

Library News
What’s Happening in the Library?
April is School Library Month as well as Earth month and we have many activities planned in our library. We will be kicking off the month in our makerspace area with make your own bookmarks and paper beads out of books that have been discarded due to damage or missing pages. By using these discarded books we are promoting the reusing and recycling of materials.
The genre of the month is Fantasy. Books in this genre tell stories about events or characters that do not exist in the real world. Some popular Fantasy books in our library are the Wings of Fire series, Harry Potter series, The Land of Stories series as well as The Red Queen series.
We are still in need of beads or rainbow loom supplies and welcome donations of any of those items. We have also created a Trailside Library Wishlist on Amazon for anyone who would like to purchase and donate.

We are excited to announce that we have secured an author visit to occur in June with April Henry the author of many YA mystery books such as: Girl Stolen, Count All Her Bones, and The Body in the Woods. We are in the process of locating a vendor so that students who are interested can purchase some of Ms. Henry’s books before her visit. Ms. Henry will be available for book signings throughout the day. More details will be shared as final arrangements are made.
*Reminder*
Please ask your student to look around their bedroom, locker, or backpack and return any library books that they may have. We will be sending out overdue notices soon as we try to secure all of our books before the end of the school year.
