Spirit Week
The week leading up to the big game, Dawg Pound, our school's spirit club, hosted a spirit week and planned the days as follows:
Monday: Pink Out
Tuesday: Travel Tuesday (60's-90's)
Wednesday: Wilderness Day
Thursday: Game Day Thursday
Friday: Maroon and Gold Day
Students and staff were encouraged to dress in the theme for the day to show spirit for the Little Brown Jug (LBJ) football game.

Teachers Support Cypress Springs
On Wednesday, November 8th, faculty and staff wore their red Hurricane Harvey shirts in support of our adopted school, Cypress Springs High School. The donated materials are on 5 pallets and awaiting shipping to the school. Thank you to all who have contributed to this effort.
AP World History Students Travel to DC
AP World History students took the metro and traveled to Washington DC on Saturday November 11th. The 17 students got to visit the National Gallery of Art, the National Archives, and the National Portrait Gallery. At the National Archives they got to see the Declaration of Independence, The Constitution, and the Bill of Rights.
Children's Grief Awareness Week
Club C.A.R.E. hosted Children’s Grief Awareness Week from November 13th to the 17th to show their support for grieving students. Each day, students had something different they could do to get involved.
Monday: Blue Ribbon Day
Tuesday: Tattoo and Face Paint
Wednesday: Guest Speaker
Thursday: Wear Blue
Friday: Pop away sadness for candy
To participate, students went to the Club C.AR.E. table during their lunch.
On Wednesday, guest speaker Marcy Taylor from the Drew Michael Taylor Foundation, spoke to 9th and 10th graders during advisement on grief and coping skills.
Marching Band Season Comes to an End
Our Marching Bulldogs finished out their season strong with a performance at the Hersheypark Stadium for the Cavalcade of Bands Championship. On Friday November 10th, our band members put on one last performance for the community before finalizing the season in Hershey on the 11th. The marching bulldogs finished in 8th with a high score of 82.85.

Student of the Quarter Breakfast
To show our appreciation towards the students who received Student of the Quarter recognition for the first marking period, Big Spring has started a new tradition. Students of the quarter, their parents, and the staff member who nominated them were invited to a breakfast that was held on Friday, November 17th. There were over 80 parents and students in attendance for this event sponsored by Belco/Cornerstone Credit Union. The breakfast itself was provided by Chartwell’s.
Students of the Quarter from the Cumberland Perry Area Vocational Technical School will be recognized at a later date.
