Counselor Corner with Ms. Lang
Hello Everyone,
I would like to introduce myself. I am Mrs. Chardy Lang, the new counselor. Now if you think I look familiar, it is because I worked at Emerson 2 years ago in a jack-of-all-trades capacity.
I will be sending home notes to let you know what we are doing with counseling in our school and to give you some ideas as to how to reinforce at home what we are learning in school.
First of all, I will be going into every class at least 3 times this year doing Wellness lessons once in September, October, and again in November. This month, we will be learning about Mental Wellness, emotions, and how to handle big feelings. Please ask your student what they have learned and how can they apply it to everyday life.
Dates for September Wellness Lessons are:
· Grades 2-3 Tuesday 9/12
· Grades TK-1 Monday 9/18
· Grades 4-5 Monday 9/25
Lastly, this month, our character trait is RESPECT. Here are some resources you can use at home to help your student learn what is RESPECT.
· https://youtu.be/KxnxObAyfSA?si=rl1QuprlU8sTeO0T This is a fun video. Who is more respectful, Superman or Ironman? Watch to find out!
· https://www.schooltube.com/v/UFdkEp 5th Graders talk about what respect is as they dance to the song “Respect”
· https://youtu.be/ELWLxyRc64c?si=zwGZZynDu2A5UTJM Respectful Spot read
· https://youtu.be/TmRjyQlWyQg Stories and Song about Respect
· https://youtu.be/GOzrAK4gOSo Sesame Street “Respect”
· Discuss RESPECT with your students and have them point out when they see someone being respectful.
Keep watching for the Counselor’s Corner to see what is going on at Emerson and to see how you can teach your child the character of the month. I will also be adding helpful hints for you and your families.
If you ever need to contact me, I am at Emerson every Monday and Tuesday, then alternating Thursdays.
Have a Great Day!!
Mrs. Chardy Lang

TK and Kinder Morning Drop Off
If you would like to wait with your child you may do so outside of the Josie Hallway doors near the classrooms. The doors will open at 8:55am for students to enter.
UPDATED - Safety Concerns: Pick Up / Drop off
Safety concern: More parents are driving the wrong way on the one way street off of Willow, please adhere to all parking and directional signs at all times. Also we noticed a few cars unattended in the middle of the street can cause traffic to back up and possible accidents. Please do not park in the bus loading zone or in red zone, or turn your hazards on and leave your car double parked and unattended with/without other children inside. Safety is our utmost concern, and we thank you in advance for making sure we keep everyone safe and ticket free. Our school neighbors have kindly asked that we remind parents to NOT block their driveways when dropping off and picking up, OR, leave any children in their cars unattended while walking to drop off other siblings to the school campus.
