WHS Life Complex & Parking Updates
Please help us as we prepare for some exciting construction to begin on the high school campus on March 4th. This will impact parking and we will need all hands on deck to help with this important transition.
As you may recall, the Westside Foundation announced its Impacting Excellence campaign in October 2023. This campaign’s goal is to fund the work for a new Life Complex at Westside High School through private donations. This innovative project will bring new, top-notch facilities for many of our academic programs and athletic programs, reaching the whole life of our students. You can learn more about the campaign and project HERE.
Construction work will begin on Monday, March 4, 2024. Knowing how vital the high school is to our community we have worked diligently to create as little impact as possible. For the safety of our young drivers, we are closing the parking lot between the football field and the baseball field as this is where the large, heavy construction equipment will be stationed and operational.
We have secured other locations for temporary parking while we have this athletic parking lot closed. You can find them on the map HERE. Westside Community Schools Administrative leaders and Westside High School team members will be on site to help students as we navigate the transition to these new parking locations.
We appreciate your flexibility and understanding as we undergo temporary inconveniences in order to build a lasting impact for our students and community for many years to come.
SmartGen Society Presentations
On Thursday, February 15th SmartGen Society will present to all students during homeroom on the POWER OF SOCIAL MEDIA. This presentation works closely with students to discuss the importance of prioritizing their mental health. They’ll learn how to combat online exploitation and red flags for online exploitation. We will also cover how to have open communication surrounding digital spaces and devices with caregivers, along with maintaining a positive digital brand.
Attendance Reminders
If your student is going to be absent please call the main office at 402-408-8649 by 9:00am.
If you need to call your student out for an appointment please call the office at least 30 minutes prior to pick up time. We no longer have students working in the main office to run passes. The student will wait for you in the main office, once they see you they will sign out in the main office and come out to the circle drive.
It is extremely important for your student to be at school and on time everyday!!!
