CVU Celebrations
November 4, 2022
Dear CVU Community: Among costumes (congrats to our Crystal Skull winners!) , team-wear, spirit gear, voting booths, and club fair tables, CVU was a festive place this week. Thank you for the fun, everyone, and thank you for balancing that fun with the determination to ensure that the red we wear represents all of us. A special thanks to our student speakers for your courage and eloquence.

From Rahn Fleming: 10th grader, Autumn Miller, is the master craftsperson behind the hats. She crochets with a kind of fervor rarely seen; made this lil beauty for me in under 24 hours!! We've been wearing 'em proudly for Sprit Week "Hat Day" (and only a couple of days late for Cancer Awareness Pink-October!) In genuine awe of both Autumn's skill and joyful spirit!!

Our friends from the Chipmunk class at First Roots Wild Roots made us this wonderful thank you card!
CVU's Harkness Building coaches spent Thursday at Harwood Union High School in collaboration with their counterparts in Kate Youngdahl-Stauss's Harkness Leadership class. While there, our students participated in student-led (read: 0 teacher facilitation needed!) Harkness discussions and had a working lunch where they tried to absorb as much as possible from the Harwood students about growing this work in a school community. Gosh, it was such a joyful day. CVU students in attendance were Izzie Boddie, Delainey LeBlanc, Mia Stolz, Whitley Pidgeon, Sophia Comeau, Keira Kavanaugh, Chase Leonard, Rose Bunting, Alex Montgomery, Will Kallock, Clark Clark, and Alex Wemple."

Faculty/Staff Celebrations
From Jim Clapp: Matt Meunier does an absolutely tremendous job in teaching groups on a range of difficult, sensitive, and important topics. Today we had an outstanding class discussion on the advisory prompts related to discriminatory language. It was a challenging task, but I know every student had some growth and new understanding at the end of the group.
Thank you to our Equitable Practices Group who provided faculty/staff trainings this week on disrupting discriminatory speech. A special thanks to Bageshree Blasius and Christina Deeley for leading our Friday assembly.
Community Celebrations/Notes
- Let's Talk. Last March, the school district softly rolled out a new communication tool called Let's Talk. Let’s Talk makes it easy for parents, students, staff, and community members to ask questions, request information, and share feedback. Over the summer, we added topics for each of our schools. See this blog post to learn more and view a short video that explains how easy it is to use Let's Talk.
- Strategic Planning: We recently held a number of strategic planning community forums to gain insight from all members of our community and inform the district's work over the next 5 years. We have extended the deadline for the strategic planning survey to November 11. We hope to hear from even more community members, staff, and students! https://bit.ly/CVSDOct22
