Yesterday, we hosted Interim Superintendent, Dr. Lamont Jackson, Chief of Staff, Dr. Sofia Roditti, and Area 3 Superintendent, Dr. Christina Casillas for a tour of our school. They were thoroughly impressed by the dedication our staff has for the students and our students' dedication to learning. One of our students complimented Dr. Jackson on his tie. To this, Dr. Jackson removed his tie, put it around the student's neck, and asked him to promise to wear it when he gets drafted in the NFL (in the morning circle the student had said he wants to be a pro football player when he grows up). It was a truly special moment, our student will never forget.

Later in the evening, we hosted our Virtual Back to School Night. Thank you for your patience with the technical glitches and background noise from the roofers. Recordings of the teachers' presentations will be posted on the Back to School Night Website starting Monday.

Families, we need your help. Free and Reduced-Price Meal (FRPM) status is used to designate Title I rankings within the district. This process is crucial to the district’s funding; therefore all SDUSD school sites are required to collect LCFF forms for all students. LCFF data collection affects Title I Eligibility/Ranking, and the higher the collection rate, the more funding the district as a whole and individual school sites will receive.

We are pleased to inform you that the collection of LCFF data has moved to an electronic collection process. School sites are responsible for providing parents with Access IDs and Passwords so that they can create a PowerSchool Parent Portal account. Parents can visit the PowerSchool Parent Portal to access the electronic LCFF Form. We are hopeful this process will allow families to provide the information needed to properly funds our schools in a timely and more efficient manner.

We this information to help ensure it receives all the state funding to which it is entitled. It will not affect your child receiving free meals at this school as all children will have free access to meals this school year.

The LCFF online form is available on the Parent Portal, and NOT on the student’s portal. To create a Parent Portal account, you will need:

• A valid email address
• Access ID and Password from your student's school

If you do not have the Access ID and Password for your student, please contact the school to make the request. You will need an Access ID and Password for each student you wish to link to your account.

As you know, keeping our students safe, healthy and IN SCHOOL is our #1 priority. To ensure this, we need for ALL families to fill out the COVID-19 Testing forms. Thank you to all who have already filled out these forms. The deadline to submit the forms is September 10.

If you are opting out of COVID testing, we still need you to submit the testing form.

If you prefer to fill out the forms on paper, please visit the school site. We will have staff in front of the school all week during drop off and pickup, to distribute the forms to you, and support you in filling them out.

Please see the list of recommended supplies to bring each day. Any supplies required for learning will be provided by the school if needed. Lunch is also free for all students and no sign-up is required. Please pack a snack for your student as these are not provided.

Fabric or surgical masks can also be provided to your student if they do not have one or forgot.
