Principal's Message
Dear Pershing Families,
Congrats on an incredibly successful first six weeks of school. Your students have truly been a pleasure to work with this school year and I have enjoyed watching each grade level step into their new roles. Our 8th graders have embraced their role as school leaders and role models, our 7th graders have shown an increased maturity and focus, and our 6th graders have done a great job of adjusting to life as a middle schooler and all the fun and challenges that come with meeting the expectations of six different classes and teachers.
The P1 grading window grades are now visible in PowerSchool and I am proud to report that over 500 students qualified for Honor Roll (GPA 3.5-3.79) or Principal's Honor Roll (GPA 3.80-4.0) based on their P1 grades. This is an impressive accomplishment and we know our students' academic success does not happen without significant support at home so thank you families!
I also wanted to take moment and recognize the work of our Equity Committee and thank them for the messages and activities they shared with classrooms in honor of Hispanic Heritage Month. I have some great photos below of the mural they had students working on at lunch to recognize and honor important latinx figures.
And finally I want to thank all the families that participated in the Panther Pledge Drive this first month of school. Our Foundation was able to raise nearly $30,000. This is more than half of the funding need to support the different activities planned for students this year. Based on your generousity we will only one additional fundraiser this school year. Thank you so much, this community is truly amazing!!!
Sincerely,
Melanie Kray
