Welcome to the 2021-22 school year! Campuses were buzzing with excitement as students entered our schools with bright, smiling faces this week. What a terrific start to a much anticipated school kick-off! Working together SHISD students and staff are destined to accomplish great things in the months to come. I am extremely honored to be serving as the Superintendent for Spring Hill ISD, and I cannot wait to see what the future holds for our educational community!

PTA

Spring Hill PTA supports students, teachers and staff by organizing teacher appreciation events, spirit wear sales, and Senior Celebration. PTA raises money for teacher grants, special campus activities, and college scholarships for graduating seniors. Members are also able to volunteer to help with class parties as room parents. Join PTA today!

School Health Advisory Council (SHAC)

SHAC provides guidance, recommendations and other assistance to the board of trustees in order to promote healthy lifestyles and academic achievement for Spring Hill ISD students. Education Foundation

The Spring Hill Education Foundation provides supplemental funding for academic programs and initiatives that enrich student learning at Spring Hill ISD. Panthers Care Family Assistance

Panthers Care Family Assistance is a program that helps Spring Hill ISD current and former students, faculty and staff members who find themselves in financial crisis. Those in need of assistance with household, transportation or medical expenses can apply for a grant to help ease their burden. Learn more about Panthers Care Family Assistance.

Healthy meals will be offered every school day to all students at no cost for the 2021-2022 school year. Typically, a student’s household must meet income eligibility requirements to qualify for free or reduced-price meals. However, the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) issued guidance that allows schools to offer meals to all students at no cost for the 2021-2022 school year.

All students will be eligible for one free breakfast and one free lunch per school day. If a student would like to purchase an extra meal, ala carte items or snacks, they must have money loaded on their lunch account or pay with cash.

Pricing is as follows.

Grades Pre-K - 2:

Breakfast - $2.00

Lunch - $3.00

Grades 3-12:

Breakfast - $2.25

Lunch - $3.25

Extras & Snacks:

Ice Cream - $1.00

Tea - $0.75

Cookie - $0.75

Reduced Price Breakfast - $0.30

Reduced Price Lunch - $0.40

Visitor Breakfast - $2.75

Visitor Lunch - $4.50

While no application or eligibility determination process is required for your student to receive free meals this school year, the income eligibility requirement will likely resume in the 2022-2023 school year.

The first day of school was full of excitement and smiles!

Spring Hill recently hosted an immunization clinic. Aurora Concepts administered immunizations needed for students to meet the State of Texas minimum immunization requirements for public school attendance. The event took place at Spring Hill Intermediate.

“Spring Hill is so pleased to offer our yearly student immunization clinic,” said Jaymie Walton, District Nurse. “It offers our parents an additional option to get their students up to date on immunizations before the school year begins.”

While students were away for summer break the work continued at Spring Hill ISD in preparation for the school year.

Spring Hill teachers participated in Reading Academies. Reading Academies training is part of a House Bill 3 initiative requiring kindergarten through third-grade teachers to complete a predetermined set of reading curriculum with the goal of positively impacting student literacy achievement.

Spring Hill ISD also upgraded its entire network with new switches, new fiber and programmed the network for more efficiency. "With this upgrade we went from speeds of 1 gigabit per second to 20 gigabits per second, making us 20 times faster now," said Steve Hardy, Director of Technology.

Staff members received instructional technology training. The training covered the use of interactive TVs, Google Jamboard, DisplayNote for screen sharing, and Google Sites for student projects, presentations, and portfolios.

District roofing and landscaping projects that began in the summer months are also nearing completion.

5:30 to 7:30 p.m. • North Side of Panther Stadium

Purchase dinner for your family before or after the Back to School Pep Rally. The Chick-fil-A food truck will offer sandwich meals with chips. Pre-orders are also available for pick up at the truck. To place pre-orders, please contact the Education Foundation Office at 903-323-7745. Chick-fil-A will donate 10% of the receipts to the Spring Hill Education Foundation Grants for Teachers program.

Band Boosters will also have drinks, chips, and popcorn available.
