PROP T
Proposition T Educational Information is located on the Jackson R-2 School District website. Prop T will be placed on the April 2, 2024 ballot. For more educational information, please visit the website or click this link.
The April 2 Election day falls during spring break. No excuse absentee voting begins Tuesday, March 19 at the County Clerk Main Office in Jackson or the County Clerk Satellite Office in Cape Girardeau. Information on absentee voting is included in the link provided.
Parent-Teacher Enrollment Conferences
Our spring Parent-Teacher conferences are Tuesday, February 13 and Wednesday, February 21 from 4:30-7:30PM. Students and parents will meet with advisory teachers to discuss next year's enrollment. Your student's advisory teacher should have already sent out a sign-up for you to select a time on these dates to go through this information.
Counselors have gone over the enrollment information in your student's ELA class. Students should turn in their enrollment cards to their advisory teacher by next Monday, Feb. 12. Students will self-enroll in advisory on the following dates.
Juniors: Feb. 22
Sophomores: Feb. 29
Freshmen: Feb. 26
National School Counselor's Week
February 5-9 is National School Counselor's Week. We are fortunate to have five amazing counselors to help our students! We thank them for all they do!
Summer School
Summer school will begin June 5 and run through June 27. There are no classes on June 19 in observance of Juneteenth. There will be a morning session offered from 8:00-12:00 and an afternoon session from 12:30-4:30. In addition, there will be several classes offered online. Sign-ups will begin in the middle of March. Classes will be assigned on a first come, first served basis. Students may sign up for a max of two classes.
Scholarship Information for Seniors
The general scholarship application was sent out through our counselor's office last Friday. Please encourage your student to complete this application using their school email account. They are due on March 8.
Academic & Military Signing Day will be on Wednesday, April 24 from 1:00-3:00 in the Events Center. This is an afternoon to honor our seniors that have been admitted to college/university and have accepted an academic scholarship. We will also celebrate any of our students that have enlisted in the military. Students who fit this description may sign up for this event using this link.
Jr & Sr Prom - May 4
Prom: Saturday, May 4, 7-10 PM in the HS Event Center. This is a formal dance for Juniors and Seniors only. Jackson High School Juniors and Seniors are allowed to bring one guest. They will need to have their guest complete the Guest Permission form and submit it to the JHS office. No junior high students or guests over 21 are allowed.
Students must be in good standing to attend dances. Students failing two or more classes will be placed on Admin Probation and will not be allowed to attend school dances or events. Students that have been suspended out of school for discipline reasons may not be allowed to attend school sponsored dances and events.
ACT and Work Keys Assessment
Ways for Students to get Help with their Classwork
Advisory Mods: Every Advisory period students may get help from their teachers or take assessments during our Mod times. We have two 30 min mods on these days to allow students time to get help from multiple teachers.
Success Center: Success Center is an after school tutoring program in the library from 3:00-5:00, Monday - Thursday. Students do not have to sign up. There are certified teachers able to help students who attend. Though we have a calendar with specific subjects for different days, students may get help on all of their classes at this time. Students may also make up tests/quizzes during this time.
Monday: Science
Tuesday: Math
Wednesday: ELA
Thursday: Math
Collaboration: Each collaboration we have a room available for students to make up tests and quizzes. Students can speak to their teachers ahead of time to make sure the test/quiz is accessible at this time.
ICU time 5th Hour Wednesdays: Every collaboration Wednesday, 5th hour is extended by 25 minutes for students to work on their assignments. They may ask their teacher for help during this time.
