A Message from Our Assistant Principal
We are beginning our fourth week of school, and our faculty and staff have done an amazing job setting the tone for the year. At this point our students should be in a groove and know what is expected from them each day. With that in mind, it is important to remind your student that if they are late to class without a pass, they will be marked tardy. Once a student has earned three tardies, they will be assigned detention.
Our classrooms have hit the ground running with instruction. Many of you may notice that your student will be having their first tests this week. Encourage your student to create a habit of studying a little bit each night to prepare for their tests. This habit will set the tone for your student to anticipate success as they continue to grow in their educational journey.
At the end of last week, our students completed IXL diagnostics in in ELA and Math. The data from these diagnostics will provide guidance on how we can best support our students. With this in mind, be on the lookout for more information about after school tutoring. Teachers will provide ELA and math tutoring, Monday-Thursday. We will be providing two different tutoring sessions, remediation tutoring and traditional tutoring. Remediation tutoring is invitation only; however, traditional tutoring is available to all students who may need classroom support. Tutoring is an opportunity for students to receive additional support on skills that are challenging them. Please keep in mind that tutoring is not a time for students to complete homework. More information on how to enroll your student will be provided soon.
At Deshler Middle School we provide an open line of communication for any questions or concerns that may arise throughout the school year. We value you and your input, and it takes all stakeholders to work together to ensure our students have a successful year.
Thank you for trusting Deshler Middle School with your student and GOOOOO TIGERS!!
