This week, OHS Senior Kade McClearn has been selected as an Athlete of the Week! Kade is a crucial member of the varsity cross country team, placing really well in recent races according to Cross Country Head Coach Mitchell Furtkamp.
"Kade is gaining confidence every race moving into the bulk of his senior season," Furtkamp said. He had two great finishes in the past two weeks; taking third overall at the Lebanon Invitational and second overall at the Willard Highline Invitational. His second place finish at Willard led our boys to the team title at that meet. I believe Kade will continue to build off these performances and complete his senior season being one of the better runners to come through our cross country program."
Congrats Kade!
This week, OHS Junior Ruben Arvizu Jr. has been selected as an Athlete of the Week! Ruben is a defensive lineman for Ozark's varsity football team, and is a key piece of the Tiger's defense, according to Football Head Coach Jeremy Cordell.
"He has been a consistent leader up front on the defensive line," Cordell said. "He had his best game of the year last week against Webb City with a key sack and several tackles. He is always dialed in during meetings and football time."
Congrats Ruben!
This week, OHS Senior Gracie Gant has been selected as Artist of the Week! Gracie currently serves as the head drum of the Pride of the Ozark's Marching band and helps lead the band, according to Assistant Band Director DJ Faught.
"She's a fantastic leader," Faught said. "She is always ready to serve the band program with a smile on her face."
Congrats Gracie!
This week, OHS Senior Jeffrey Edge has been selected as Tiger of the Week! Jeffrey is a part of Ozark's culinary arts program and is currently one of four Ozark students interning at Finley Farms Mill, according to OHS Culinary Teacher Laurent Watts
"Jeffrey is always working and voluntarily helps others out," Watts said. "He always has a smile and is ready to learn. Jeffrey is a hard worker, great learner and displays the spirit of a Tiger."
Congrats Jeffrey!
Meet Coach McBain!
Coach Mark McBain is currently the head coach for the girls tennis team and the assistant coach for the boys tennis team. He began coaching in Ozark in 1998. Although he retired from teaching in Ozark in 2021, he continues to coach. Before retiring he was a special education teacher at Ozark High School and a school counselor.
"Tennis is my favorite sport to play and coach," McBain said. "Over the span of over two decades, I got to see the tennis program grow and had the opportunity to teach the game of tennis to many students who participated on the tennis team over those years."
