Mindful March 2022
Let’s take the time to pause and really take in what’s all around us. This month, take some time to look within. Learning to be more mindful and aware can do wonders for our well-being in all areas of life – like the way we eat, the things we notice, or our relationships with others. It helps us get in tune with our feelings and stops us from dwelling on the past or worrying about the future – this way we get more out of the day-to-day. It can also help us identify what we’re grateful for, which has been proven to help boost happiness levels!

Join The 21st Century Community Learning Center!
The 21st Century Community Learning Center (CCLC) is an after-school program that provides students with academic enrichment opportunities that will offer support beyond the classroom curriculum. Students will receive homework support and a nutritional snack each day. The 21st CCLC allows students to explore STEM, Physical Fitness, and Visual and Performing Arts activities, including but not limited to Theatre, Robotics, Engineering, and Culinary Arts. Students will also have the opportunity to attend field trips within the community to work with key stakeholders of this initiative. The Farm at Glenwood Mountain has partnered with Glen Meadow Middle School’s 21st CCLC. In addition, there is a Parent University component that provides workshops for parents/guardians and also affords students the opportunity to showcase their learning activities.
The program operates Monday through Friday, from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm with parent/guardian pick up. The 21st Century Community Learning Center is only available to 6th, 7th, and 8th grade Glen Meadow Middle School students and is at no cost to families!

HIDDEN IN PLAIN SIGHT - PARENT/GUARDIAN WORKSHOP
Hidden in Plain Sight will be featured virtually on Wednesday, March 23, 2022 at 7:00 pm. Presented by the Coalition for Healthy and Safe Communities in collaboration with Sussex County Prosecutor’s Office and the County of Sussex and Franklin Police Department, this presentation is suitable for parents and other adult community members who work with or care about young people to prevent youth drug misuse.
Did you recently find a vape in your child’s pocket or read a text about pods or puff bars and wondered what that’s about? Seemingly “innocent” items commonly used by youth could actually indicate a substance use problem. This awareness presentation will allow adults to be more proactive in helping a young person who might be using alcohol or other drugs. Hear from prevention specialists about drug trends, how to prevent youth substance use disorders, and understand resources available to help keep youth healthy.
Would you be able to recognize signs of use and intervene before they become impossible to ignore? This “Hidden in Plain Sight'' presentation will equip parents and community members with the knowledge to look past the obvious and become aware of the signs and symptoms of drug misuse. This program is sponsored by The Coalition for Healthy and Safe Communities and the Wallkill Coalition
