VICE PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

We had a great return to school in January with Numeracy Month! There were many fun activities with counting coins at school. Many students brought in their Grocery Bingo cards and they really enjoyed sharing what they learned about the price of the items. There were many discussions about how much milk cost at the different stores!

I Love to Read month begins on February 1st. We are looking forward to another fun filled month with literacy activities and special guest readers!

STUDENT FEES OVERDUE

We still have quite a few students that have not paid their school fees. Please pay online on Parent Portal or bring exact cash or a cheque payable to MES to the school office.

I LOVE TO READ!

February is I Love to Read Month. Our theme this year is The Amazing Race. Students will be encouraged to read every day after school. Every time they read for a certain length of time (depending on their grade level) they will receive a point for their class. Please fill in the reading tickets that the students take home so that they will get their reading points and be entered to win the reading prizes. The class who has the most points at the end of the month will win a dodgeball game against the teachers. As well there will be a draw at the end of the month for grand prizes. We hope this will be a month filled with the enjoyment of reading!

WINTER FUN DAY

Winter Fun Day is scheduled for February 22nd! There will be an afternoon of outdoor activities (including hay rides!) for the students to enjoy! Please remember to dress your kids for the weather as they'll be outside all afternoon.

KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION IS OPEN FOR 2024-2025

Kindergarten registration for the 2024-2025 school year is open! To be eligible, children must be five years of age on or before December 31, 2024. The registration process will take place online at www.hsd.ca. If you do not have access to the Internet, please visit the school office and we can assist you in completing the registration on a school computer.

Parents/Guardians are encouraged to register their children soon after registration opens in January. Early registration will assist us in preparation and planning for the upcoming school year. Registering before March 1, 2024, will ensure there is sufficient time for school appointments and provide parents/guardians with the opportunity to participate in Kindergarten orientation activities. LOST & FOUND

Our Lost & Found is overflowing! It is currently displayed on tables by the office. Please come to claim any missing items. All unclaimed items will be donated on February 16th.

EXTREME WEATHER

In severe weather conditions, the Hanover School Division closes the school and stops the buses.

An announcement is made on radio stations 95.1 FM, 96.7 FM, and AM 1250 between 7-8 am, as well as on www.steinbachonline.com and as a bulletin on www.hsd.ca
