St. Luke Weekly SMORE
April 21, 2023
Leadership Message
Dear St. Luke Families,
Greetings to all and a continued Happy Easter to all of you and your families! We hope that you had a very joyful and blessed week! This week we were very fortunate to have Elder Garry Gardnier and Connie Kulhavy come in to teach, answer questions, and complete an indigenous art activity with all our classes as students gained a little more knowledge about the Metis history and culture .
Also this week Mrs. Shankshaft and I were fortunate to be invited to our EICS Central Learning Services (CLS) to present our St. Luke Assurance Plan. It was so nice to have the opportunity to showcase all the wonderful learning and growth that is happening at our school. Our school Trustee Le-Ann Ewaskiw, Superintendent Paul Corrigan, Assistant Superintendent Brett Cox and Assistant Superintendent Therese deChamplain were all there to hear the wonderful news. We now begin work on our new Assurance plan for next year and look forward to having conversations with our school community.
As mentioned last week, our season of Easter lasts quite some time, all the way up until Pentecost. We started this week with a wonderful Praise and Worship Celebration that spoke directly to prayer life and evidence of God’s existence. As we continue to celebrate the miracle of our Risen Lord, we may find comfort and energy through praying for others during this time. Even the Son of God thought it was important to devote time during the day specifically to God and to pray for others. Sometimes we can get bogged down with busi-ness and forget just how important prayer life can be. When praying for others, you can consider the following:
Be specific. (In Luke 11:5-13, the man in the story asked specifically for three loaves of bread.)
Persevere (Hebrews 6:12). Keep asking, seeking, knocking. It is always too soon to quit praying.
Pray prayers for their future: friends, career, spouse, etc.
Pray often with a prayer partner or prayer team—in person or by phone (Matthew 18:19).
Listen for the Holy Spirit’s guidance (Romans 8:26-27).
If you have a prayer language, use it often, especially when you do not know exactly what situations need prayer coverage (Romans 8:26; 1 Corinthians 14:13-15).
Whether you use the hints above or not, may we all continue our own walk with Christ as a faith-filled community who is certainly Better Together! May the blessings of this Easter season continue to be a repeated reminder of God’s love for all of us!
Blessings,
Cathy Hinger and Sharilynn Shakeshaft
