Discovery Primary Update

Dear Families,

Thank you parents of students in our Hybrid Program for your patience with our short term shut down last week. We are starting back with classes for Hybrid A on Tuesday, March 2. The school building has been throughly cleaned, we have substitutes in place for the staff members who need to quarantine, and we have reviewed safety protocols with staff. Hopefully we will not need to shut school down again.

Conferences for all students will be held on March 10th, 11th and 12th. Your classroom teacher will be in contact with you regarding date, time and zoom invite for individual conferences. We look forward to discussing with you your child's growth and goals for this school year. Please check the calendar below for early release and no school days this month to accommodate the conferences.

Included in this newsletter is information about kindergarten registration for next year. If you know someone who has a child who will be five years old by August 31 we would appreciate it if you would share this information.

March 17th pick up and drop off 5:30-6:30 @ FSD Office 5802 20th St. E. Tacoma, WA 98424

REMINDER:

Students must be 5 years old by August 31, 2021 to be eligible for kindergarten.

Items needed for registration are:

• Copy of student’s birth certificate

• Complete immunization records (provider verified)

• Emergency names and contact numbers

• Proof of residency within the Fife school district (A copy of mortgage/lease agreement or utility bill showing the physical address will work for proof of residency.)

• Registration forms filled out completely.

Wearing a mask at school is a very effective safety measure, but becomes less effective if masks are dirty. Please consider sending multiple masks to school with your student, and washing reusable masks regularly at home. If you are unable to provide or wash masks, please contact our School Counselor, Kelsey George, at kgeorge@fifeschools.com.
