Community Update from Principal Griffin
Dear Erie High School families,
Thank you for your support and engagement in another great week at Erie High School. It was great to see so many parents and families in attendance at our Parent-Teacher Conferences on Wednesday night. Thank you for your partnership in the continued success of your child(ren).
Many Erie Tiger student-athletes will be busy during the upcoming holiday weekend - please join me in wishing good luck to the following groups:
Unified, girls, and boys basketball teams in their final regular season games of the year
The boys wrestling team who will have eight student-athletes competing at the CHSAA 4A state championships at Ball Arena this weekend
Two Erie High School students, Sierra Ryan and Erin Young, will be competing in the CHSAA girls wrestling state championships for the Mead High School team.
Our Robotics teams are competing in multiple competitions across Colorado over the weekend. Good luck to 3743E, 3743F, and 3743Z in the “Head Over Under Heels” Tournament in Fort Collins on Saturday, and teams 3743A and 3743B at the AFCEA Cyberspace Symposium Pikes Peak Classic Signature Event in Colorado Springs on Sunday and Monday.
Over the course of the past several weeks, our Performing Arts students have had many opportunities to shine in their SVVSD honor ensembles and all-state performance groups. Our students are thriving in band, choir, orchestra, and theatre, and earning outstanding recognitions at the local and state levels as a result. In just the last three weeks, Erie High School has had 3 students perform in the All State Jazz Choir, 77 students perform in the SVVSD Honor Choir, 2 students perform in the All State Orchestra, 12 students perform in the SVVSD Honor Band, and 16 students perform in the All State Choir. I am proud of these hard-working and talented students, and grateful to their teachers for their dedication to student success. You can review all of our EHS students honored for their great work in the performing arts this year at this link.
The Erie High School Theatre Department is working diligently in preparation for the 2024 spring musical production of “Catch Me If You Can”, running on March 7-9 in the Erie High School Auditorium. There are four showtimes over the three-day run. We look forward to a great turnout of our community to see this outstanding show! Tickets for all four shows can be purchased here.
I hope that you and your family have an outstanding Presidents’ Day weekend. This is a great opportunity for our students and staff to recharge at this point in the semester. Thank you for your continued support of our great school!
Sincerely,
Josh Griffin
