Peace Prayer of St Francis
Lord, make me an instrument of your peace
Where there is hatred, let me sow love
Where there is injury, pardon
Where there is doubt, faith
Where there is despair, hope
Where there is darkness, light
And where there is sadness, joy
O Divine Master, grant that I may
Not so much seek to be consoled as to console
To be understood, as to understand
To be loved, as to love
For it is in giving that we receive
And it's in pardoning that we are pardoned
And it's in dying that we are born to Eternal Life
Amen
FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Dear Parent/Guardians,
Photo Day Arrangement
On Saturday, we will have our formal photo day from 8am-3pm. It is important that students wear only their PE uniform, which means the PE t-shirt. No school hoodies, no Spirit and Pride gear, and no headbands, hats, or bows. These are official photos for our yearbook and school database.
When you arrive at your selected time, you will enter via the upper yard from Spruce Street. Follow the signs to drop your child/children off. This will be the first doors into the school building near the preschool. Once the children enter the building, you will drive to the cafeteria end doors to collect your child/children. For students in preschool through 2nd, a parent or an older sibling will accompany the child.
On this day, you may drop off the supplies for our Guatemala Appeal for the children in the villages who are in desperate need of clothes and educational supplies. The supplies are to be handed to staff who will have gloves, masks, and face shields on. If it is raining, we will continue with the event. A little bit of rain will not scare us!!!!
Reopening Plan
I have news to share with you about our reopening for student return.
We had a meeting with the San Mateo County Office of Education on Monday where we were informed that the two weeks of being on the Red Tier ended on Tuesday which means that schools are able to submit their plans for reopening in phases. We are in the process of completing this form along with making adjustments to our mitigation plan to align with the San Mateo County requirements. Since our reopening task force did a good job with the mitigation plan in the first place, it is easier to modify to meet the new requirements.
Once we submit, we have a two-week waiting period for approval. After that, we may phase in groups over a two-week period. That is, K-2 will return for two weeks, followed by Grade 3-4 for two weeks, and then Junior High will be back on campus.
Therefore, the tentative reopening will look like this:
K-2 - October 26th
3-4 - November 9th
5-8 - November 30th
With the return of students on campus, it is highly recommended that students and families have a COVID-19 test. I am in the process of organizing free testing on campus and I will notify you when the date is finalized.
As a community, it is expected that in the event a person tests positive for COVID-19, the school office is notified. We all need to work together on this and halt the spread of COVID-19.
While the school authorities are taking precautions, it is expected that families likewise will do the same. We do not want to expose anyone to the virus while we are in control of the situation with the safety measures in place.
I would refer you to again of our Reopening plan which is located on our school website under the tab “Academics” or click the link here.
All our PPE supplies are in place and the sanitizer gun arrived yesterday which will be a great asset in cleaning and sanitizing the rooms.
Congratulations
Congratulations to Korey Baca who came in second place in the STEM Fair. This is a great achievement. Congratulations to the other students who participated.
Nepal Accident Appeal
I wish to thank all those families who donated money ($1,300) for hospital costs for my friends who were involved in the horrific accident last week where their truck was forced off the road and rolled down the cliff into the river. It took several hours to rescue and transport them to the hospital 250 km away at Kathmandu. Unfortunately, the drive has a broken neck and also tested positive for COVID-19. I count my blessings each day and may God look after us all.
Annual Report
I wish to share with you our Annual Report for 2019-2020. The report is a wonderful recall of our activities for the school year of 2019-2020. Click here to read it.
Blessing of the Animals to remember St. Francis of Assisi
Last Monday at 12:15pm we had a special school assembly where Mr. Ceja and Fr. Casimir led us in prayer and a blessing of the animals. It was great to see our children with their animals.
Mass is Back In-Person
With San Mateo County in the red tier, our churches are permitted to open with a capacity of 100 people. Therefore, Sunday Mass is being celebrated indoors. The 12pm Spanish Mass will still be celebrated outdoors in the upper yard due to the large number of churchgoers.
First Communion and Confirmation
On Saturday, October 24th, we will celebrate the First Communion of our students at 10am and confirmation for our 8th graders at 1pm in the upper yard. Due to numbers, the celebrations will be held outside. We look forward to celebrating these sacraments with the students. I congratulate our students for the receptions of these sacraments.
COVID-19 Free Testing at School
On October 19th between 10am and 5pm there will be COVID-19 testing at our school site in the upper yard. The service is free. The forms to complete along with more details will be found on SchoolSpeak. There will be a sign-up link available from the company. One form must be completed for each family member - a family of 4 must complete 4 forms. This is a great opportunity for our families in the community to get tested.
God Bless,

School Uniform Information 2020-2021
We thank you for your patience and understanding during these times.
Below we listed a small FAQ for your families, to help ease any confusion about coming into our store or placing an order!
Are you open? Yes! We are open Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday 10:00 to 5:00, Thursday (7/9 only!) from 10:00 to 7:00, and Saturday from 10:00 to 4:00. We are closed Sundays and Mondays, any phone messages or emails over the weekend will not be received until that following Tuesday during store hours.
Do you take appointments? No! Just come on in at your earliest convenience.
What are your procedures in-store? Anyone over the age of 12 is required to wear a mask the entire time you are in the store. We can only take 2-3 families in store at a time, if we are at capacity we ask you to wait outside where we have sidewalk markers to practice social distancing. We also request that only 2 people enter our store per family (for example, one student and one adult, or two adults). For families with multiple students, exceptions will be made. We provide hand sanitizer and have been wiping down high-touch areas, as well as dressing rooms, between each customer.
Can my student try items on? If you are comfortable with it, yes! Any tried on items are being quarantined in our back warehouse before being put back onto the sale floor. If you don't feel comfortable having your student try items on, we recommend bringing a set of clothing that currently fits, and we can match it up as close as possible.
Can I return/exchange items? We are handling returns and exchanges on a case-by-case basis. We accept returns 15 days from the original purchase, and exchanges 30 days from the original purchase. We recommend a phone call before you come in to return or exchange, and you must have the following with you:
- Credit/Debit card the purchase was originally made with
- Receipt (including the print-out from the credit card machine)
- All tags/original packaging on your items
Can I place a phone/email order? YES! All orders can be either picked up at our ramp to the left side of the building, or shipped via UPS (additional fees apply). All phone/email orders must be prepaid before pick-up, we will call you to process payment over the phone.
Any other questions or concerns can be called in at (650)-757-5722 or emailed back here at simply7801@gmail.com. We are happy to help with any specific questions or concerns you may have! Thanks so much for shopping with us, and we look forward to seeing you this summer!
