Amazing Learning Opportunities

Here are three great ways to have access to learning opportunities!

1.) Register for an online course and receive 1 CCU. Courses are $25 and taught by Jeanette, Jenny & Ann. Check out the website here.

2.) Build your Professional Learning Network on Twitter. Twitter is one of the best ways to find amazing free resources, inspiration, and ideas. Follow the hashtag #tt4t and #ipadacademy.

3.) Subscribe to our blog. By subscribing to our blog, you will be up to date on new technologies in the classroom, what is happening around the district, and simple how-tos.

iPad Academy Continues to Pave the Trail!

Over 50 iPad Academy members, both new and seasoned, met for a full day of collaboration on Wednesday, October 8th. Topics covered included Google Classroom, digitizing Words Their Way, formative assessments, and iTunes U workflow. It was a very productive day for everyone involved and we are so grateful that our district supports this growth mindset day. Greg Boettger and Jeff Rippe stopped in to check out what our teachers were up to and offered words of encouragement and appreciation. It takes a lot of hard work, time and dedication to implement new technology into a classroom. Keep up the amazing work #ipadacademy!

Connected Educators

October is Connected Educator's Month! Being a connected educator allows you to find amazing resources and free PD via Twitter, Google +, and Facebook. Leverage your social media accounts to support your professional life and ultimately your students. Here are three ways you can get involved.

1. Tweet your teaching thoughts, ideas, or moments to #CE14

2. Set up your Google+ account and find communities to join that align with your grade level, interests, and maybe a new topic to learn about.

3. Subscribe to the Connected Educator's Blog to stay connected to their events and opportunities for growth.

Use Google Classroom to organize all your students' work. Classroom creates a folder structure within your drive automatically and lets you see who has completed their work and who has not. For more information on Google Classroom click here. www.classroom.google.com

Featured Math Applications

Whether your students are using a device or a computer, there are three great Math Apps out there worth your time. One is Khan Academy. Khan is appropriate for students in 4th grade and up. It sets the students up for tailored math lessons geared to their strengths and weaknesses. As the teacher on the account, you have access to all of their math performance, abilities, and scores. Students can access Khan Academy online from anywhere using wi-fi. The second app is Front Row. Front Row is great for students K-4th grades. Front Row is similar to Khan in that it provides video tutorials, questions, quizzes, and tracks growth. Like Khan it gives you charts and data around your groups progress. It is more visually appealing for the younger students than Khan, and has a game like feel. The third is MobyMax. As a teacher you create a free account, load your students, and have materials available for students K-8. All three of these apps will allow you to differentiate math levels for your students! It provides opportunity for intervention strategies and room to excel for your higher students both at home or at school.
