Dear Skokie Families:
We hope that you enjoyed the long weekend. This week, please be on the lookout for communication from your child’s advisor to sign up for parent teacher conferences. As a reminder, 6th grade students will accompany their parents to conferences.
Clubs
Skokie/Washburne Chess Club *needs a minimum of 8 registrants for the club to run*
Climbing Club: A few spots have opened up, so registration will be reopening on Tuesday, October 4th at 9am.
Alley
During drop off and pick up, please avoid using the alley as a cut through. This can cause an unsafe situation and a backup for families as they pull out of their garages to bring students to school.
Today’s Presentation
Students and staff gathered together for a morning assembly at all five schools today. The presentation included information about seeing something and saying something, being an up-stander and what steps to take if you are in an unsafe situation. While this was a natural opportunity for us to review these things with our students, we made it clear that there are situations in which the safest way to be an up-stander means calling for help–whether that is dialing 911 or getting an adult. We also wanted to recognize that there are going to be instances that if unreported, could escalate into something worse, and want our students to know who they can go to in their school for help. Today’s presentation slides are linked below.
