Message from Mr. Noyes
Today, Friday the 13th marks the end of our first trimester. I want to send a huge thank you to all the teachers, staff, students, and families for their resilience! Thank you for trusting us and standing with us through thick and thin. We got this!
I want to thank our Pilot Teachers for their amazing work! Thank you for being in the classrooms with students- Thank you to: Shannon Cody, Michael Chun-Hoon, and Ian Candelaria- Our Pilot teachers!
Our School Site Council along with staff have been busily working on the school plans for the return to in-person learning in January. Please remember to attend Monday's School Site Council meeting at 6PM and the Principal's coffee on Monday morning (8:30-9) to hear more about Clifford's plans.
This week and next week teachers are completing report cards and conducting parent teacher conferences on Monday and Tuesday, November 23rd and 24th. Watch for an invitation from your teacher and please plan to attend the virtual conference.
K-5 Report Cards
The K-5 report card has been adjusted to better fit the distance learning model. Families will receive feedback in four main areas: Distance Learning Skills, Reading & Writing, Math, and Social Studies & Science.
A three-point rubric was developed for each area:
- 1 indicates the student is beginning to develop skills
- 2 indicates the student is approaching the target skill level
- 3 indicates the student is demonstrating skills appropriate for this time of the school year or beyond
In addition to a teacher’s general comments, specific comments will be made regarding targeted standards in each of the four areas. Here is look at the report card template.
Middle School Report Cards
Middle school report cards remain the same and students will be assessed with letter grades in academic areas that were covered during the first trimester. Comments may be provided according to each specific area. Certificates will be awarded to acknowledge students in high academic standing and, as the year progresses, to those who exhibit improvement through their efforts.
SPED & Speech Progress Reports
Reports on progress toward student goals will also be generated for students receiving Special Education and Speech services.
This was the presentation shared at the site council meeting on 11/10/20.
