Swift - Slaybaugh Complex

Principals Newsletter
Dear Swift-Slaybaugh Families,
It doesn't seem possible that the month of November is almost over and that we are now getting ready to celebrate Thanksgiving.
The weather changed quickly from 70 to 40 degrees , so please remember as the weather gets colder and the children are wearing their winter coats, hats and gloves, please help us by labeling your child’s clothing. Our “Lost and Found” is already growing. We encourage you to ask your child to check our lost and found baskets and rack if they are missing items.
School pictures for Grades 2-3 were previously sent home. Swift School students will be receiving their pictures today, Friday, November 20th.
School picture retakes will happen on November 24th for Slaybaugh Primary and Elementary Schools and December 2nd for Swift School.
We also want to say a "BIG" thank you to all of our students and families. Our Renaissance Team delivered over 1,400 pounds of food to the Community Food Bank of South Jersey. Collette, the food bank representative, was very excited and sent out a HUGE thank you to our school complex!
We were the change we want to see in our community! #EHTPROUD
Other important dates to remember:
- ABBREVIATED DAY: Wednesday, November 24-Dismissal at 1:45
- NO SCHOOL: Thursday, Nov. 25 & Friday, Nov. 26-Thanksgiving
We wish all our families a “Happy Thanksgiving.” We hope it brings all of you enjoyable time with your loved ones.
Sincerely,
Rachel Casumpang, Interim Principal
Joetta Surace, Interim Assistant Principal
Student Achievement
Mrs. Pellegrini's class made models of the earth’s surface and used them to discover how rivers work. The children made paper models of mountains and then used spray bottles to make rain fall so they could observe the patterns of how water and rivers flow.

Second and Third Grade Reading Winners
In October the at-home reading goal was 390 minutes and 3rd grade had a goal of 520 minutes of reading. All students who reached this goal, or went over, were given a prize in their classroom. In 2nd grade, Max Gonzalez blew that away with 1,380 minutes of reading. The 3rd grade reading champ was Muna Haimoud with 1,489 minutes of reading. Congratulations to these readers! The in-school classroom reading winner was Mrs. Barr's class in 3rd grade. In 2nd grade there was a tie between Mrs. DelPrete's & Mrs. Zaccagnino's classes. All three classes earned an extra recess period in November.
