Principal's Message
Hello Springwater Students and Families,
The school year is here! We look forward to 9th graders first day of school this Tuesday, September 6th. The first day of school for grades 10-12 will be Wednesday, September 7th. Bus route information is below.
We strongly encourage all families to complete the application for free/reduced meals this school year. See additional information below regarding how to complete the form in person or online.
The district has set up access to CANVAS for parents!!! CANVAS is the best place to see student assignments, tests, and a student's scores on their work. It is also a great place to see up and coming assignments before they are due. Parents do NOT need to download the CANVAS Parent App to log into CANVAS but it does make the process much easier (I have the CANVAS parent app on my phone for my daughter). See the additional information below and reach out to the office if you have questions or need help accessing your student's courses.
This summer the district installed vape sensors in all middle and high schools. These sensors are very similar to a smoke detector: they detect smoke and vape clouds. They are installed in bathrooms to notify staff if someone is vaping or smoking. We will be discussing these sensors with students as well when they return. The goal of the sensors is NOT to get students in trouble but, instead, to deter students from making poor decisions at school. Please reach out if you have questions.
I am excited to begin a school year where we have already begun to schedule field trips and exciting activities that take students out of the classroom. Thank you for your patience and support as we have all navigated the past several years. Please reach out if you have questions or concerns!
Stay safe and take care,
Ryan Blaszak

Meal Prices
Springwater Trail High will be providing Free Breakfast to all students this year. Students who are approved for either Free or Reduced-Price meals (FARMS) will also get lunch for free. Students who are not eligible for FARMS will be charged $2.80 for lunch. No student will be denied a meal for lack of payment.
Gresham-Barlow SD sent paper applications to your household address on file. You may also apply online at mymealtime.com in either English or Spanish. Paper applications may be turned in to your school office or the Nutrition Services office, or mailed to Nutrition Services, 1331 NW Eastman Parkway, Gresham, OR 97030.
AT ALL SCHOOLS, a la carte purchases have a cost to the family and must be pre-paid by account or in cash. A la carte purchases include milk without a school meal, bottled water, chips, cookies, and other snack and beverage items that are not part of a school meal.
All students have a meals account that follows them throughout their career at GBSD. This account is accessed when getting a meal using the student ID number, which is also the child’s PIN. Money may be added to the account by sending cash or check with your student to the cafeteria in the morning. Checks should be made out to Gresham-Barlow Nutrition Services. You may also add money by credit card using mymealtime.com. MealTime charges a small transaction fee for online payments.
Online Registration
Parent Verification for the 2022-2023 School Year is now open!
Before the beginning of every school year, we request that parents/guardians review and/or update their family and student information.
Keeping your family's information up to date is crucial to receiving timely communication from Springwater Trail High School and Gresham-Barlow School District and ensures that you can be contacted in case of an emergency. This year all updates can be done online through your ParentVUE account.
After logging in to ParentVUE, click on the "Online Registration" tab in the top right-hand corner to start the verification process.
Don't have a ParentVUE account or have other questions? Please email Herreid@gresham.k12.or.us or call 503-261-4600 to obtain your activation code.

COVID-19 Testing
Students who exhibit COVID-19 symptoms while at school will have access to a COVID-19 test.
Following are some important details to know about the COVID-19 test:

- COVID-19 symptoms include fever of 100.4° F or higher, chills, cough, shortness of breath, difficulty breathing and new loss of taste or loss of smell.

Springwater Attendance
If your son/daughter is going to be out for the day please call the office (503-261-4600) and let us know the reason why. Whenever the office is not notified of an absence, a call is made home via the automated calling system. If the student is going to be out more than three days, you can call the office or email your student's teachers with a request for homework. If your student is going to be out of school for extended period of time due to a vacation or some other event, please have him/her complete a Pre-arranged Absence Form. If your student needs to leave school early or arrive late due to appointments, please call the office or send a note to excuse their absence.
Electronic Flyers
Gresham-Barlow Distict has launched a new electronic flyer tool called “Peachjar.” This service allows us to “go green” and will ensure that every flier is delivered to each household. Peachjar will provide flyers directly to your computer, tablet or mobile device.
To view school-approved flyers, simply click the Peachjar button on your school’s website.
