BIG NEWS
Ozark Purchases OIC Neighbor, Dolby
It’s been nearly five years since Ozark School District purchased the commercial property known as the Fasco building. And as of Dec. 29, 2023, the District has nearly doubled that space with the purchase of its neighbor, Dolby Laboratories.
Our technology and maintenance departments will be moving in, and our Long Range Planning Committee will begin discussing potential uses. The next meeting is 6:30 - 8 p.m. Jan. 16 at Ozark Middle School, and you’re welcome to attend!
“The intent is to use it for students, but that is up to the Long Range Planning Committee and the School Board to decide what that looks like,” Assistant Superintendent of Operations Curtis Chesick said. “This is an opportunity to save money on future growth.”
HIRING EVENT
We Are Ozark Hiring Event Slated Jan. 23
Ozark School District is hosting its first-ever We Are Ozark Hiring Event and you are invited! The District has open positions in all departments from educators to custodians and nutrition services. The hiring event — slated 6 - 8 p.m. Jan. 23 in the Ozark Innovation Center, 1600 W. Jackson St. — will be an opportunity for prospective employees to meet current staff and supervisors, ask questions, fill out an application and even interview.
“Ozark School District is a wonderful place to work with competitive wages, paid time off, flexible schedules, and health insurance for full-time positions. We are always looking for hard-working candidates and would love to meet you,” said Rachelle Bell, human resources director. “No RSVP is required, simply show up with your questions. We hope you consider joining Team Ozark!”
The come-and-go event is designed to offer prospective employees an easy way to see if Ozark may be a good fit. Light snacks will be provided.
BUILDING HIGHLIGHTS
Bus Safety
Bus drivers Ms. Samantha and Mr. David visited South third graders on Thursday to help welcome back students as part of the PBIS Day at South Elementary. They shared the importance of bus expectations of being safe, respectful and responsible.
Traveling Trunk
Before Christmas Break, OMS fifth grade B Day U.S. History students got a big surprise from the American Battlefield Trust in Washington, D.C.! The Civil War Traveling Trunk is a program where students get to unbox a trunk packed full of hands-on Civil War items. Their excitement was hard to contain as they made their rounds throughout 13 stations where they were able to:
- Try on Civil War uniforms and fashions
- Touch and examine actual cannon shot and replica mini (Minie) balls
- Play Civil War era games
- Peruse a collection of Civil War era flags
- Explore the contents of a haversack (toothbrush, 'housewife' sewing kit, tin cup, prayer book, comb, coffee ration, hardtack, canteen, and more!)
- Examine 3D Civil War photographs with 3D glasses
- Dramatize quotes from Civil War personalities
- and more...

INCLEMENT WEATHER PROCEDURES
Is a Snow Day in Our Future?
With the forecast of snow in our future, we want to make sure families are prepared if the District needs to close due to inclement weather. Student and faculty safety is the primary concern when considering closing the District.
