All Souls Catholic School
Newsletter - August 26, 2021
Lord, we pray that our children will develop an eternal perspective and purpose, not an earthly one. Help them to see life–and every challenge–through Your eyes, eager and unafraid to share with others the good news of Jesus wherever they go. We pray that they will set their minds on things above, not just what’s going on here, and that they will be rooted and grounded in Your love. We pray they will come to understand the extent of Your own love for them–that it surpasses all the head knowledge they will acquire in school. We pray they will be filled up with Your love from morning ’til night. We pray for Jesus’ love for our All Souls community this year as we all return back to school.
FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Dear Parent/Guardians,
Greetings to everyone. We had a wonderful start to the new school year. Thanks to parents for entrusting your child/children to our care. As you know, safety is our number one priority for all the community members. With God’s protection over us, we can overcome many obstacles. This has been shown from the previous 18 months. Always remember that as a Catholic School our mission is to work with parents in developing a relationship with Jesus. This relationship is witnessed in our everyday interactions with each other. The time we come together to express our gratitude and nourishment with Jesus is through the Eucharist. Each Friday at 8 am we come together to celebrate our faith through the Eucharist. I wish to invite parents and friends to join us in the Friday morning Mass.
Welcome
I wish to welcome Miss Aherne as the 5th/6th grade teacher assistant and Mr. Mascarinas to the 2nd grade teacher assistant position. Also, welcome Mrs. Vlasak as the music teacher.
Back to School Nights
The Grades 5 – 8 Back to School night is being held tonight at 7pm on Zoom. After the main presentation, parents will choose their child’s breakout class to hear from the homeroom teacher. Parents/guardians are expected to attend the Back to School Night.

Morning Drop-Off
By now you have been experiencing the new morning drop-off procedures. We have created the snake-like system in the lower yard to alleviate any backup on Spruce Street. We have estimated it takes roughly 5 minutes once you enter the lower yard to the time you drop your child/children off. The important thing is that your child/children are ready to leave the car quickly and move into the building. When leaving the upper yard please turn right onto Spruce St. By doing this, we can clear the upper yard quicker and keep the flow of traffic going. We suggest that the children have their backpacks on already so they can get themselves out of the car easily or carry their bag out of the car. Please do not get out of the car as this slows down the process. Remember children are resilient and they can do almost anything. With training, they can easily put their backpack on!!
Friday/Mass Drop-Off
Tomorrow, students will be dropped off directly at the church on Fridays/Mass days. Drop-off begins at 7:45am on Miller Ave. Street parking and lower yard parking are available if you’d like to drop off your student to the church.
COVID-19 Testing
We will be offering COVID-19 testing with the same company we used last year. The testing will be open to all students, staff, and community. It will be held every second Tuesday. It will be the nasal swab method. You will receive a link from the company to register yourselves and child/children for the program. Unlike last year, you do not have to complete forms every time. Once I receive the links and more information, I will send them to you. If you have friends or other family members, they can be tested also.
Volunteers and Visitors
To prevent the spread of the virus and reduce the risk of exposure to our staff and students, visitors are required to provide proof of vaccination, wear masks while on campus, and will need to sign in the visitor log. Visitors unable to show proof of vaccination will need to provide a negative COVID test taken within 7 days. Anyone, including visitors, who have symptoms of infectious illness, such as flu or COVID-19, should stay home and seek testing and care.
Please complete the form and provide the necessary documents (i.e. proof of vaccination or negative COVID-19 test result) prior to entering the campus.
IMPORTANT NOTE: The negative COVID-19 test result must be taken within 7 days of entering campus.

Guatemala Appeal
Every year during September we run our “Save the Children” appeal whereby we collect educational supplies, medical supplies, clothes, backpacks, toothpaste, toothbrushes, multivitamins for kids and adults, bleach wipes and masks.
If anyone knows of companies to assist with such items, we would appreciate your assistance in contacting them and explaining what we are doing. During the summer I was able to visit one of the schools where we sent supplies and the children were very grateful for our assistance.
We will start the drive September 1st to September 30th. Thanks to all in advance for your assistance.
God Bless,
Vincent Riener
