SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITY FOR AFRICAN AMERICAN GIRLS
Greetings from the Philadelphia Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc.,
We are writing to introduce you to the 2023-2024 Jabberwock Scholarship Program. This program has been a time-honored event for Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. since 1925 when members started an innovative development and community service program to offer scholarship opportunities to young students. For nearly a century, the Philadelphia Alumnae Chapter www.phillyalumnae-dst.org has provided a wealth of services to children, adults, and families in communities throughout Philadelphia and the surrounding counties.
Jabberwock has a partnership with Delta Research and Educational Foundation (DREF) www.deltafoundation.net, a 501(c)(3) organization established as a public charity to support scholarship achievement among African American Women and we are excited that you have expressed interest in this amazing program!
We are seeking rising 11th and 12th-grade girls to become Jabberwock Scholars. The program will officially start in August of 2023 and end in May or 2024. We desire to impact families in a meaningful way and relieve the costly burden of attending a post-secondary educational institution.
Please share the attached flyer with other families in your school. Once the "Interest Survey" has been completed, they will be included on our email distribution list and will receive the most up-to-date information about the Scholarship Program.

POST GRADUATION PLANNING SESSIONS
I am excited to share that EVERFI is partnering with Citizens to host educational sessions next month for Academy at Palumbo families. These events are designed for parents of high school age students and will provide families with guidance on how to prepare and plan for life after graduation. Family members can expect to hear from panelists on topics including:
- The various paths students can take after high school
- How to find “free money” & what to take into consideration when investing in your children’s futures
- Accessing supportive resources available for financing higher education
These sessions are free for all community members to attend, and during each session 2 lucky attendees will receive a $50 gift card. Additionally, attendees will learn more about a $15,000 scholarship opportunity that is open now and requires no essay!
There are four sessions to choose from (dates and times below). Families are welcome to attend whatever session fits best with their schedule. If they are unable to attend these sessions live, they can register to receive a recording.
