GHMS Updates and Notes (10/4)
Principal's Corner
As we strive to provide the best education for all our students, we're committed to creating a safe, respectful, and supportive environment. Our team has been diligently working to foster teamwork, build meaningful relationships, and promote learning. We appreciate your partnership in educating your child.
In the upcoming weeks, you'll have the opportunity to meet and communicate with the teaching and support staff directly involved in your child's education. This will allow you to gain insight into your child's successes and challenges in learning. We encourage you to attend the parent-teacher conferences as they provide a valuable platform for us to strengthen our partnership in supporting your child.
Thank you for entrusting us with your child's education, and if you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to reach out to me.
Is your child here?
Today is Count Day! This day holds significant importance for our school, as your child's attendance directly impacts the funding we receive from the state. Therefore, it's crucial to ensure your child is present and prepared for learning.
If, for any reason, your child isn't able to attend school on Count Day (or any day), please contact our office to excuse their absence at 616-252-2070, press 2 and leave a message on our attendance line. Your assistance in ensuring Count Day's success is greatly appreciated!
TODAY: emergency alert system test @2:20
If an alarm blares on your phone, don’t worry – it is just a test.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and Federal Communications Commission (FCC) are implementing a national test October 4 at 2:20pm to radio, TV and wireless emergency networks to ensure that the systems continue to be effective as a means of warning the public about emergencies. All major U.S. wireless providers participate in the emergency alert system and will transmit the national test. If your phone is on and within range of an active cell tower, from a participating wireless provider, you should receive the national test.

Before each event, a food bank truck is loaded with 5,000 – 20,000 pounds of food. More than 30 percent of the food distributed through this program is fresh, frozen, or shelf-stable fruits and vegetables, ensuring that our community receives nutritious options.
