The war finally ended after the final battle at New Orleans. The Americans had just slaughtered the British and caused them to retreat. After this battle they decided to sign the Treaty of Ghent. Why was this war important?
The War of 1812 was important because it was almost like they had gained Independence again. This was because the Americans still felt like they were under British control. During this war they also figuring out what they were going to do with their government. Again the most important thing was that we knew we were independent from Britain for sure!
What I Thought
I think that the War of 1812 was important because it was a major turning point in history. We gained our Independence for the second time and it let the British and other countries know that we are strong and just as good as any of them were. I believe that America is a country that wants something and fights to get it and that people can try to stop us, but we will always try to succeed.
