Bridge Bulletin
August 18, 2023
Principal Chat
Welcome to a new school year! We were SO excited to see our returning Bullfrogs and meet our new kiddos on Wednesday. This week's bulletin is filled with boring but useful information that will hopefully help you navigate the school year.
This week our students spent most of their time learning about classroom and school procedures. Starting next week the bulletin will include pics and examples of lots of learning activities happening at school.

Parking Lot and Pedestrian Safety
We are not be able to have a crossing guard on Midland Drive because of the close proximity to the intersection and stop sign on 4800 south and Midland (just north of the school). Our last visit from Roy City Police indicated that ALL crossings should happen at the stop sign NOT across the middle of the street. Again - PLEASE help us keep our kiddos safe and do not have your children cross the street and if you choose to do so, make sure it is with an adult by their side.

BASE - Bridge After School Enrichment
Bridge Elementary provides FREE after-school programs, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 3:30 - 4:30 pm. BASE is designed to extend the student's learning day. BASE will not be held on days when school is released early. Participants also receive FREE dinner but must remain until 4:15 pm to receive dinner. Each day students will participate in activities based on a specific theme.
Monday - Literacy or Writing
Tuesday - STEM (science, technology, engineering or math)
Wednesday - Fine Arts or Movement
Thursday - Natural World - History - Holidays
Students MUST be signed up to attend BASE. ALL BASE changes made after the first day of school MUST be made by calling the school (801)499-5180 or notifying our BASE Coordinator, Stacey Archuleta at Stacey@BridgeCharter.org
At the end of the school day teachers use the sign up to determine which students need to remain for BASE and which students go outside to wait for parent pick up. It is absolutely critical that the BASE form is correct. If your student is on the BASE list they will be kept inside. If your child is NOT on the list they will not be able to remain for BASE and will be sent outside for pick up. If your child remains for BASE and you arrive before BASE is over you must come into the school to check your child out from BASE.

Power Chess - Friday After School Program
Morning Supervision
When students arrive they either go to the lunchroom to get breakfast or to the meeting place for their specific grade level:
Kindergarten - North Kiva
1st Grade - Middle Kiva
2nd Grade - Library
3rd - 6th Grades - Gym
Students sit quietly with their peers and some grades watch a cartoon. Students are not allowed to run around, play outside or rough house. This is simply a form of "quiet day care" and provided for parents and guardians who need early morning supervision so they can get to work.

Online Lunch Payments
When payments are made online we must complete several steps to get the payments moved to Aspire. We do this every Monday and Wednesday. After we run the online report it takes another day for the money to post to your student's Aspire account. Please allow 3 - 5 days from the day you make the online payment to the day the information posts in Aspire.
The link to make payments online is found on our website by selecting the MEALS icon.
Volunteers
- Cutting Watch Me Learn tickets (stop by the office)
- Pulling weeds in the rock areas and park strips (we have all the area in front of the school and up 4800 S along the school fence).
- Using rakes and shovels to redistribute the gravel from the bottom of the retention area in front of the school to the top area to cover the black landscape screen.
- Parking lot duty before and after school (just check in at the office, put on a yellow vest and talk to Travis in the crosswalk for instructions)
Once your family has logged 30 volunteer hours they can stop by the front office and ask for a VOLUNTEER FROG. Then, write your family's name on the frog and tape the frog on our volunteer pond in the front foyer.
If you want to volunteer but do not have the time, you can donate $90 to cover the 30 hours. If you choose to donate, complete the volunteer form. You can donate in the office or by using our DONATE icon on the home page of our website.
Excuse an Absence
Title I
Bridge Elementary receives our Title I funding based on the percentage of students that qualify for free or reduced lunch. For this reason we encourage ALL families to apply for Free/Reduced lunch through Aspire to ensure every single student receives the services needed, including access to free or reduced meals if appropriate.
Title I provides avenues for parent input and participation. We do this through our surveys and the link to the form on our website which allows parents to submit questions and suggestions.
You can find more information about Title I as well as a form to ask questions or provide suggestions regarding Title I, on our website at:
