Welcome 5th Grade Students and Families!
Greetings to our new students and families from Mt. View and Northwood! We have included you in this newsletter so you can get a glimpse of what happens at the end of our school year and get a preview of what will be happening in 2022-23.
In early August, you will be receiving a Welcome To 6th Grade For 2022-23 newsletter which will walk you through the process of starting school at Edgemont. Included in this newsletter will be our student computer information, arrival and dismissal procedures, important dates, and other forms needed for the first day.
Also, please reserve the afternoon of Tuesday, August 30th for our annual 6th Grade Prep Day. On that day, students will receive their district computers, house information, school and house shirts, a tour of the campus, and basic information on being an Edgemont Eagle. Parents are welcome and encouraged to attend.
Textbook, Library Book, and Computer Return Information
We need your help! Encourage your child to check under their bed as well as inside their closet, dresser, and backpack for any books and materials that need to be returned to the school. We will be collecting these items during our last few days. Any items you help find will eliminate the need to add fines to your student's record.
Please remember that 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students will be keeping their computer materials for the summer. The only exception is if you plan to switch schools or move to another district.
9th Grade Day - June 15th
It will be a packed day for our 9th graders on June 15th. On that day they will be returning items to the school, have breakfast, participate in their awards assembly, and be whisked away to their off-campus fun event at Bullwinkles. Here is their schedule for the day:
- 7:30 - 8:20 - Students will turn in computers, textbooks, and receive yearbooks (if they purchased one).
- 8:20 - 9:45 - Breakfast and the 9th grade slideshow
- 10:00 - 11:15 - 9th Grade Awards Assembly (gym) - Parents are welcome!
- 11:15 - 4:45 - Bullwinkles Fun Center (students who signed up for the trip)
* Please note that any 9th grader participating in credit retrieval this summer at Edgemont will turn in their computer at a later date.
June 16th - The 2nd Epic Event - Volunteers Needed!
We have reserved June 16th as our final house competition of the year. However, due to the size of this event, we will need some volunteers. If you are interested and can work between the hours of 7:30 am to 1:00 pm, please contact our office at 253-841-8727.
6th Grade EJH Track Team
Congratulations to Ms. Kesler and the 6th grade track team for a great showing at the recent PSD Elementary Track Meet at Sparks Stadium on June 7th. The team gave their best in the running, jumping and throwing events and represented Edgemont with pride. Nice job 6th graders!

Student Health Information
A note from our nurse's office regarding medications and vaccinations....
Things to do before end of school year:
- If your student has EMERGENCY medication in the health room it needs to be picked up by a guardian on the last day of school. Any medications/supplies left will be discarded (we CANNOT keep medications over the summer.
- If your student has NON-EMERGENCY medications in the health room they can be picked up by a guardian anytime during school hours from now until the end of year.
Things to do OVER the Summer:
- If your student has a Medical 504 plan paperwork was sent home and Dr. orders should be obtained to follow 504 plan.
- Should your student need/require medication at school next year (i.e. Inhalers, motrin, daily medications) obtain new doctor orders for 2022-23 school year and return to health room beginning 8/25/2022. Medication that is dropped off MUST be in original package and for prescription medications the pharmacy label must match doctor orders.
