TMHS Choir Host Region Auditions
The Region Audition is Saturday, October, 14th at Tomball Memorial HS (19100 Northpointe Ridge
Ln, Tomball, TX 77377). Students should arrive no earlier than 7:00 am. Registration will not open until 7:30am. Audition cuts will be given out at 8:15am and a final call will be made for registration at that time. Registration closes at 8:30am.
All auditioning students should arrive at TMHS by 7:15am and meet in the large ensemble room to warm up together.
All students helping must arrive at TMHS by 7:00am and meet in the choir room to go over responsibilities for the day.
ALL AUDITIONING STUDENTS WILL GO TO CAFETERIA TO REGISTER and receive cuts. Once
registration closes, students will then be taken to their assigned rooms to warm up and be taken through cuts. Registration opens at 7:30 am and closes at 8:30.
Sopranos warm up: Cafeteria
Altos warm up: Orchestra Room
Tenors warm up: Choir Room
Basses warm up: Auditorium
The first group of students to audition will be called from their warm-up room. The remaining students from all voice parts will report to the cafeteria to await their audition. Students need to follow directions regarding line up and appropriate times to go to the restroom.
WARM UP:
During the "warm up" the students will go through the cuts 2 times per section (e.g., Alto 1 2x, Alto 2 2x). The cuts will not be rehearsed again. Students may vocalize after that point but may not practice the audition music. Please let your students know that they can only sing the cut material for their section. In other words, a soprano 1 cannot sing through the cuts again with the soprano 2s. This is a violation of the audition process and will be enforced.
LINE UP:
In their warm up rooms, students will be lined up in groups of 10. Once the first 10 are sent to the audition rooms, the next 10 will be called to the lineup area. Shortly after the second group of 10 is in the lineup area, all remaining students will be sent to the cafeteria for the rest of the contest day.
NOTE ABOUT RESTROOMS:
Students should take care of any personal needs prior to going to registration. If they are in the first group of 20 (or have requested an AM time), there won’t be an opportunity to use the restroom until after their audition. If students ask to go to the restroom before 9am, the answer will be NO.
NO ELECTRONIC DEVICES:
There are no electronic devices allowed at the audition. This includes smart watches.
There are no musical instruments allowed at the audition. Please be sure that your chaperones and parents know that they can use electronic devices, but may not allow students to use them. Remind them to use a safe distance when operating a device in proximity of students. Students WILL be allowed to call for parent pick-up at the phone call table, monitored by the adult at the table. (More about this below).
CONCESSIONS FOR STUDENTS:
Please tell your students to bring money to support the TMHS Booster Club by purchasing items from the concession stand! They will be serving assorted snacks and lunch items, in addition to water and tea. A list of specific concession items will be sent next week for students. We are buying a total of 150 sandwiches and 35 pizzas. Please let your students know that the sandwiches will be one per customer until announced. The sandwiches will be $5, and pizza will be $3 for two slices. We will be accepting cash or card.
Advancing students will be announced in alphabetical by voice part at the end of auditions.
SITE PROTOCOLS: Entry doors will automatically unlock at 7:00am and lock at 8:30am. Please park in the designated parking areas according to the maps. The athletic area by the gyms has no access to the rest of the school. Signage will be posted to go to the performing arts entrance

Choir Uniforms
All choir students will receive a formal uniform for the year to be turned in at the end of the school year. This includes a formal black choir dress, pearls (chorale only), OR a concert tuxedo. For students with a tuxedo, we will also provide a tie, cummerbund, and pocket square.
All students wearing a tuxedo must purchase all black formal dress shoes, and long black socks to be worn at concerts. Tennis shoes are not allowed.
All students wearing a dress must purchase all black flats or shoes with a small heel. High heels are not recommended, and tennis shoes are not allowed.

Fall Concert Rehearsal
All choir students will have a required rehearsal on Monday night, October 16th from 5-7pm. We will rehearse our combined numbers with our accompanist at this time and prepare to organize everyone on stage. This rehearsal will be graded.
Sing-a-thon
Due to the amount of students wishing to audition and to not use more class time, if you did not audition in class, you may submit a video submission to the google form below. You must be on your TISD email to upload a video. This must be completed by MONDAY, OCTOBER 9th at 11:59pm to be considered. There will be no exceptions to this.
All songs must be clean, school appropriate, and preferably cut to approximately 2:30. All auditions must be performance ready. If you are auditioning for Sing-a-thon, please complete the google form below.
Sing-a-thon will be Thursday, October 26th at Creekwood Grill on Telge with the event beginning at 6:0pm! Students will have a designated call time for each class and will open their class's portion with a class song, followed by soloists from that class. Once the soloists in their class are done singing, the students from that class will be free to go.
All students will participate in this event with each class performing a song. This is a major grade performance for our students, and also a spirit night for our choir program!

Chorale Football Games
Chorale will be singing The National Anthem at all home football games this year! They've already done a wonderful job at our first two home games! Please see remaining dates below:

10/20 is Fine Arts Senior Night(Chorale only, senior parents will get more information soon. Please keep this evening available)
11/3 (Chorale only), 8th grade night
Students will wear their TMHS Choir polo, jeans with no holes, and closed toed shoes for all home football games. All students must follow the TISD Dress Code Policy for these performances.
Students may drive themselves or carpool, but there will also be a bus provided to each game for students that do not drive. Students can either ride the bus back to school immediately following the National Anthem, or can stay for the game but must find their own transportation home.
All students must complete the required documents above to be able to perform at the games, and all students must be eligible.
Patriotic Show
Patriotic Show this year will be October 13th! This is a required performance of all academically eligible choir students during the halftime performance at the football game. There will be a bus provided to the stadium and all choir students will sit with the choir in the stands until the halftime performance is over. All eligible and participating choir students will get into the stadium for free and will not need to purchase a ticket. Following the halftime performance, students may stay for the game, or there will be a bus provided back to the school after halftime. There will not be a bus provided at the end of the game.
Students will wear their choir polo, BLUE jeans with NO HOLES, and closed toe shoes.
This is a huge community event for the TMHS vs. THS football game and is a blast for our students. The stadium is packed and the halftime performance includes a firework spectacular, and even a skydiver! This is typically a sold out event because it is as much a football game as it is a fine arts performance!
Call time for students will be 6:00pm at the stadium. Students will meet by the band tunnel underneath the scoreboard.
We do need some parent help at this football game, so if you are interested, please click the link below to sign up! I you have already reached out to us about helping, there is no need to complete the sign up!

Pop Show Auditions
Pop Show auditions will be in the Fall. As a reminder, only seniors may do slow songs, and all tracks must be cut to fit within 2 minutes and 30 seconds. Auditions should be performance ready and with all group members present. Audition sign ups will be in the Fall, but you can start preparing now!
Our theme this year is Broadway! Songs must be from a Broadway show, and NOT be Disney!
