August 20, 2023
Greetings Shenandoah Valley Families,
This is it! Tomorrow is the first day of school! We can't wait to see all of the smiling faces as the kids enter the building!
This week's forecast shows that it will be hot, hot, hot! We could use your help to ensure students stay hydrated next week.
- Please send your child with a refillable water bottle for the school day.
- We plan to have bottled water available for afternoon bus rides.
Please see below for reminders regarding the first day of school and transportation. Please note that parents will not be permitted in the building on the first day of school for the safety and security of all students.
Sincerely,
Dr. Terri Politte
Principal | Shenandoah Valley Elementary
Transportation
Arrival Dismissal 2023/24 School Year - Please note the entrance and exit have changed from previous years. Please click on the link for a video of the driving path. As a reminder, if you have a kindergarten student riding the bus, an adult will need to be present at the bus stop after school.
First Day of School
- Please have your child utilize the same mode of transportation that will be used on a normal basis. This will allow for comfort, stability, and predictability for a smooth start to the school year. We will have staff members stationed in the front and throughout the building to assist students as needed.
- Parents will not be permitted in the building on the first day of school to ensure safety and security in the building. There will be opportunities throughout the school year to volunteer and visit your child's classroom.
- Kindergarten Parents: Boo Hoo Breakfast @ 9:00 a.m. - This will take place in the front of the building. Tables and chairs will be available to sit and chat with other parents sending their child to elementary school for the first time.
- Photo Booth - There will be spaces in the front of the building to commemorate the first day of school for our kindergarten students.
- Please park in the street for the Boo Hoo Breakfast.
Meet Nurse Maschmann
I have been a nurse for 16 years. My husband Ed and I have a 10 year old daughter, Reese, a 12 year old son, Brady, and an adorable miniature schnauzer. I enjoy running and playing golf in my free time. I am excited to be part of the SVE family and look forward to getting to know everyone!
Visitor and Volunteer Information
If you have already completed fingerprinting, it is good for 6 years. However, the volunteer application needs to be completed each year.
- A Parkway volunteer is an individual who has an opportunity to be alone with a student. Please see the Volunteer Information.
- A Parkway visitor is an individual in a school for a limited period of time who does not have the opportunity to be alone with a student. Parkway Visitors do not need to go through the background check process.
- Volunteers may complete the App Garden (Parkway volunteer tracking software). Use this link to start App Garden Application
- It can take volunteers anywhere from 4-6 weeks to be approved so please do not delay if you plan to assist in the coming months. We suggest applying at the beginning of the year.
