Mill Creek Magic Messages
News and Updates from Mr. Croyle and Mr. Murtha 2/9/2024
From Mr. Croyle and Mr. Murtha
February can be a sneaky month in terms of how much is happening here at school. On the surface, it seems to be a quite time of year, but when you take a look around, there is a lot happening!
First, we are in the midst of celebrating Black History Month, and we will share some classroom lessons and activities that focus on Black History in the coming weeks. Further down, you can see some photos of our current library display, which highlights black authors and black stories. Many thanks to Ms. Hiriak for always promoting amazing and diverse reading choices for our students!
Next, Ms. Binckley's 2nd Grade students had an opportunity to celebrate at the Mill Creek Cafe this past Thursday. Mr. Murtha and our dedicated parent volunteers... led by the tremendous organization of Ms. Lassin... served up a special lunch to these deserving students. They modeled incredible and respectful cafeteria behavior during the month of January. And... this 2nd Grade class broke the four month string of 4th Grade dominance at the Mill Creek Cafe. We appreciate 4th Grade setting a high bar, and we are so impressed with Ms. Binckley's students for meeting and even exceeding that standard!
Finally, today marked the 100th day of the 2023-2024 school year (can you believe it?)! Sounded to us like a reason to celebrate, so our 1st Grade and Kindergarten students did just that, creating 100th Day hats and outfits. Our 1st Grade students even held classroom parades to celebrate!
Happy 100th day of school and have a nice weekend, Mill Creek!
