I hope all is well with you and your families. Back in November, an accident took place on Mulberry St. where a student was hit by a car. We have asked that no one drop their student off by parking across the street from the school. Since this accident, I have asked my staff to park in the back to give families space to park in the lot while dropping off. We are still seeing parents parking on the other side and walking students over or letting the students out to cross over on their own. Please use the parking lot to drop your student off and reframe from parking across from the school. While I understand that the accident didn't happen while that parent was dropping off the students for school, we want to be proactive in avoiding any danger that could occur in the future. Please use the parking lot. There are plenty of spaces available.
I also asked that you not pull up between the buses or the signs out front indicating "Bus Only." I understand that many of you are rushing to get to work, but we want to avoid any accidents. We want to ensure the safety of our students, and this is the only way to do so.
I appreciate your understanding!
~ Mrs. Wright
We Celebrate Black History Month
Clinton Valley Family,
February has long been the symbolic time of celebrating Black History Month.
Please remember during February to discuss the importance of Black History Month and find time to share stories, quotes, videos, or discussions with your students in celebration of the many influential Black leaders and people of our generation and those that paved the way long before us.
Our students should all know that no matter their race, religion, ethnicity, or other traits that make them who they are, they are all special and capable of wonderful things. Providing time for students to share experiences and customs is one way to start conversations.
Although Black History Month is in February, please continue to celebrate our students and their ethnicities and races throughout the year.

School mask requirement ends
Masks will no longer be required in the classroom, inside school facilities, and at school events, as of the end of the day Friday, February 4th.
After January’s rapid increase in COVID-19 cases, Macomb County is experiencing a significant decline in positive cases. Therefore, we feel comfortable in keeping our plan to end our mask requirement today. Thank you to everyone that supported our efforts to maintain in-person learning during this most recent COVID surge.
Although we will be returning to a mask-optional environment, Chippewa Valley Schools still recommends the use of masks indoors while in crowded settings to help reduce the transmission of COVID-19 in our community.
Students riding a bus are still required to wear a mask
Federal mandates still require that students wear a mask while riding on a bus to and from school. Bus drivers will have masks available for students that need one.
Important Reminders
If your child is sick, please keep them home to avoid spreading illness in our schools. As a reminder, if your child has two or more of the following symptoms: temperature, sore throat, new or worsening cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, diarrhea or vomiting, headache, chills or rigors, loss of taste or smell, runny nose or congestion, muscle aches, fatigue or nausea, please keep them home and ask for guidance from your health care provider or our Covid nurse. If they have a pending Covid test, please keep them home until you receive a negative test result.
You can report a school-related positive COVID-19 case by using our reporting form.
COVID Nurse Information
Chippewa Valley Schools employs two full-time COVID Nurses that monitor COVID cases in our schools. They serve as a resource for parents and staff and work directly with the Macomb County Health Department on all COVID related issues. We are grateful to have these outstanding healthcare professionals as part of our team.
Samantha Schmall – Elementary/Preschool – (586) 723-2188
Melissa Allen – Secondary (MS/HS)– (586) 723-2190
Thank you to our CVS families for their continued cooperation and support. By working together, we can ensure that our schools remain open for in-person learning and we can continue to provide every CVS student with an outstanding education.
What's Happening in Science with Ms. Laichalk
Students have been working hard on their computer skills these past few weeks! K-2 students have been learning how to sign onto the computers, parts of the computer, and how to use the mouse and keyboard. 3-5 students have been learning internet safety, and how to read and evaluate web pages.
What's Happening in Fifth Grade with Mrs. Roddy
These are pictures of my class examining artifacts from our sunken ship activity in social studies. The students must examine the object that is in their part of the ship, then decide what type of artifact it is and how the explorers used it.
