News & Notes You Need to Know
Arrival/Dismissal Reminders
Cars may only use the front bus loop drop off area if it is after 7:45am and they are dropping a student off who is arriving late.
If you use the car drop of lane either at arrival or dismissal, please be sure to pull all the way up to the curve of the lane (all the way to the shed) before stopping your vehicle.
Emergency Closure Reminders
In the event that school is closed in the winter due to weather conditions you will receive an alert via Remind and in your email. You can also visit our Lenox website at https://www.hsd.k12.or.us/lenox for up to date information.
Too Sick for School Guidance
In the school environment, many communicable diseases are easily transmitted from one student to another. A healthy environment involves prevention, early recognition of illness, symptoms, prompt diagnosis and treatment. Children who are not feeling well have a difficult time concentrating and therefore do not benefit from the instruction they receive during that time. Please do not send an ill child to school. We need your assistance in providing a safe and healthy environment for your child. You can view HSD's Too Sick for School guidance here; English/ Spanish
Volunteers
If you are interested in volunteering or joining your student at lunch, you must complete the HSD volunteer application including fingerprinting. You can visit
https://volunteerapplication.hsd.k12.or.us/ to begin the process or check on the status of your application.
A World of Stories Family Literacy Night ~ January 12th 5:30-7:00pm
The World of Stories event is an opportunity to bring together our community and share a special connection through story. Books teach facts, inspire imagination, and start children on a lifetime of learning about themselves, others, and the world around them. Celebrating literacy and providing opportunities for students to experience adults as readers, families will be able to travel around our building and hear a variety of stories read aloud by teachers and special guests representing many themes and cultures. We hope to see you there!
Doors open at 5:15 - Event starts promptly at 5:30

SERVICES OFFERED FOR TALENTED AND GIFTED (TAG) STUDENTS
Parents are welcome to refer their child for services designed for students identified as talented and gifted. Students who score at or above the 97th percentile on a nationally standardized, norm-referenced test of overall reading or math or on a mental abilities test, and have other confirming evidence that they learn at a rapid rate and advanced level, are identified as TAG students. With parent input, individual plans are made to adjust the rate and level of the student’s instruction to meet his or her specific needs. If you think your child may qualify for TAG services, and want information about the referral and identification process, please contact our school’s TAG Coordinator.
