This year’s fall parent-teacher conferences will be held the week of November 8-12. Due to Covid-19, conferences will be held remotely through Zoom. Your student’s teacher will send out a separate email with the Zoom link.

To sign up for conferences, you will use the “Conference” scheduler button located in your Skyward Family Access. This function makes it convenient for parents/guardians to sign one or multiple students up at a time. After you sign up you will get an email confirmation with your conference date and time. The conference scheduler will be open from Oct. 20th at 5 p.m. to Nov. 4th at noon. Attached are the parent instructions to sign up for conferences.

Unlike years prior, conference week will include half day early release at 11:45 a.m. every day except Thursday, November 11th there will be no school in observance of Veterans Day.

Spanish-speaking parents/guardians throughout the Snohomish School District are invited to our first Fall Parent Tech Night for Spanish-speaking parents/guardians on Monday, November 8 from 6-8 p.m. at Valley View Middle School (14308 Broadway Ave SE in Snohomish). Come learn more about how to use:

• Skyward and Canvas, the software applications used in the school district
• Translation tools
• Apps to learn and practice English

Human growth and development will be taught each year during 5-6th grade.

Families are invited to attend a presentation to learn about the health standards, activities and resources that will be used to teach each of the topics, and the opt-out process. Please see details below.

We are excited to continue the Machias tradition of honoring our Veterans. Unfortunately, with current restrictions as a result of COVID-19, we will not be able to hold our celebration in person. We are working hard to create a special virtual experience to celebrate our Veterans and their service to our nation.

If you are a Veteran or have a family member you would like to recognize, we would be honored to include them in our virtual ceremony.

• We DO NOT need everyone to submit updated Veteran information this year. If you have sent your picture before – we do not need them sent again.

• In order for us to complete this project, we need all information submitted no later than Friday, November 5th.

Please be sure to return your original pictures on picture retake day to ensure that you get the format that you want for your child’s retake picture.

How to help now?: We're looking for basket captains to pick a basket theme or experience, gather the donated items from friends, family or the store, and bring the basket to Machias Elementary by Friday, Nov 12th.

The Snohomish School District is hiring emergency substitute teachers. Did you know you can become and emergency substitute if you hold a bachelor’s degree or higher? This position $185 to $260 per day (depends on duration of assignment) applicant must have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree and must pass STEDI subskills test.

Would your family benefit from an assistance program this year?

Backpacks for Bobcats - We provide weekly backpacks to each student who could use a little extra food in the pantry. We would distribute backpacks every Friday. Other arrangements can be made if that time does not work. Backpack delivery will start on October 15, 2021.
