Stonybrook School Weekly Update #21
February 11th, 2024
February is off to a fantastic start at Stonybrook!
Mrs. Bruce's class recently finished writing their first literary essay. The students were given an opportunity to self reflect on the work they did in preparation for their next literary essay. First they played the game Prove It, where they had to prove to their writing partner that they included various elements in their essay. Then they filled out a checklist to see if any key pieces were missing, if anything was incomplete, or if they had all the elements necessary. From there they each filled out a Google Form with their individual goals to work on as we begin our second literary essay.
Love seeing our students enjoying recess when the weather is this beautiful!
This past Friday our students participated in Football Friday! Students were decked out in their favorite team gear and participated in lessons that focused on football.
Species on the Edge
We had 19 Fifth Grade Contest Entries for the Species on the Edge Contest. Students also had to submit a one page essay explaining why their species was endangered or threatened. We are so proud of their hard work!
