Unified Basketball 2023

Calling all students! Unified Sports is in need of peers that can support our Unified Basketball program. You do not need to be skilled in basketball in order to play! Interested, please see Miss Cealey in the Library LSC classroom to get more information.

Backpack Club News

Thank you to everyone who participated in the first-ever Lake Oswego High School 4K YOUR WAY! Through sponsorships, donations, and participant registrations we were able to raise over $8,000 – enough to provide weekend nutritional support for students at Whitman Elementary School and Edward Byrom Elementary School for the entire school year!

The Backpack Club’s mission is to partner with Blessings in a Backpack to provide food on the weekends for school-age children who might otherwise go hungry. We raise money, purchase food, pack the food into sacks, and deliver the sacks to the schools. Then, every Friday, the sacks are placed by school staff into the backpacks of students who need this extra support.

“The kids at my school who receive weekend packs need Blessings because their families are struggling with trauma, houselessness, poverty, marginalization.”

(Must be arranged prior to finals; students cannot miss a final and then expect to make it up during this time period without prior approval.)


• If a student has three assessments scheduled for one day, they may arrange to have the A2 or B6 assessment deferred to the pre-arranged testing period. Paperwork is available in the counseling office and must be submitted by Friday, January 20.

• All other requests for adjusting a student’s schedule must have administrative approval.

• Buses will run at their regular times throughout the week with the exception of Thursday when buses run at 1:00 pm.

• The cafeteria will serve prior to the first test session and at lunch on Tuesday, January 24, and Wednesday, January 25. There will be a quick grab-and-go lunch service on Thursday, January 26, where students can get some items that they could either eat or save for later in the day.

• The testing center will be available Monday-Friday from 8 am-4 pm for any remaining tests that students had planned to take there.

• All students are required to attend every class (except study hall).

• Students will not be released early from any exam.

• No early assessments will be granted prior to January 24.

Class of 2023 Parents: Purchase Your Senior Baby Ads!

Parents or guardians of the Class of 2023 may choose to purchase an optional Senior Baby Photo Ad for their senior. If purchased, their selected baby picture(s) and personal message to their senior will be published in the Laker Log yearbook. There are four different baby ad options this year: small (1/8 page), medium (1/4 page), large (1/2), and full-page.


Small - $70 [1/8 page, 1 photo, maximum 200 character message]

Medium - $90 [1/4 page, 2 photos, maximum 350 character message]

Large - $125 [1/2 page, 3 photos, maximum 700 character message]

Full-page - $200 [1 page, 7 photos, maximum 1500 character message]


To purchase an ad, the following is required:


1. Upload your photos and write your message in this form.

2. Pay the fee corresponding to your baby ad size on the LOHS webstore or mail payment via check to LOHS, attn: Jami Wray, Yearbook Adviser, PO Box 310, Lake Oswego, OR 97034.

If your payment AND form are not received by Tuesday, January 17th, your baby ad will not be in the book.

IWhat services does your school nurse provide?

School Nursing by Definition:

School nursing, a specialized practice of nursing, protects and promotes student health, facilitates optimal development, and advances academic success. School nurses, grounded in ethical and evidence-based practice, are the leaders who bridge health care and education, provide care coordination, advocate for quality student-centered care, and collaborate to design systems that allow individuals and communities to develop their full potential. (Adopted by the NASN Board of Directors February 2017.)

Some of the services provided by your school nurses:

  • Provide first aid care and health assessment;

  • Write care plans and coordinate the care of students with chronic or acute health conditions;

  • Communicate with teachers and staff to ensure the safety and well-being of students;

  • Administer medications and monitor delegated medication administration;

  • Assist in the evaluation of students for Special Services (Special Education);

  • Coordinate and provide vision screenings and vaccination clinics;

  • Track and monitor immunizations and dental care and;

  • Educate and train staff on asthma, life-threatening allergies, diabetes, and blood-borne pathogens.

Ways to report incidents related to bias, racism or harassment in losd

Parents-guardians who have concerns about a student’s well-being are encouraged to reach out to their principal, and to maintain strong lines of communication and partnership between students, families, staff, and other resources. SafeOregon is also an effective way to report a tip regarding safety threats or potential acts of violence to our students or schools. Students should also be aware that intentionally providing a false report is a serious offense. https://www.safeoregon.com/

In addition, below are reporting methods for parents-guardians or students to use to report issues related to racist, bias, or harassment incidents.

Oregon State Assessment Opt-Out Form

Each school year, Oregon students take assessments to meet federal requirements. The purpose of these assessments is to provide data that schools can use to ensure that every child is on track and achieving learning goals.


State law requires us to inform you that a form is available from the State Department of Education that allows you to opt your child out of the math and English Language Arts assessments for the current school year. Should you wish to opt out your child, fill out the form and submit it to the main office at your child’s school. Please note the submission deadlines listed on the form. Meeting the deadline will help the school with planning and preparation. If you wish your child not to participate in the science assessment for grades 5, 8, and 11, submit this request in writing to the principal of your child's school.

If you have questions or want more information about state assessments, please contact your child’s principal or teacher(s).
