We are Kicking Off the Year of the Amphitheater Portrait of a Graduate
"The POG," for short, is a core mission of the Amphitheater School District.
Some background: About five years ago, the Amphitheater community came together to create the Portrait of a Graduate, a collection of the traits and characteristics that each of our students should have the opportunity to develop from preschool to graduation.
Through meetings and brainstorming sessions, parents, students, educators and community members defined eight essential characteristics: Scholarship, Critical Thinking, Problem-Solving, Creative Thinking, Communication, Caring, Collaboration and Citizenship. These are the elements of Amphitheater's Portrait of a Graduate.
This school year, we are launching a month-to-month initiative in every school and every department to champion each characteristic of The POG. We have teams made up of leaders from throughout the District to lead the way and work with schools and sites to bring each characteristic to life.
We are kicking this off in September, which is Creative Thinking month. We will be encouraging our Amphitheater community to champion the value and importance of Creative Thinking in school, at work and in life.
How can you help? Scan the QR code on the calendar below to volunteer to be a POG Champion. You can pick your month, pick your activity or just let us know you are interested, and we will help get things rolling.
You can also share your experiences with us. For September, take pics of Creative Thinking in action, and send them to contactus@amphi.com. We will include photos on our social media platforms and website.
We are excited to come together to champion our students and our community and embrace the importance of each of the characteristics of The POG.
In September, let's get creative!
New Parent Portal Coming Soon
The District has shifted to a new Student Information System because the one we have been using is no longer in business. We have been working for months to implement Infinite Campus, which will provide the new Parent Portal to replace the Tyler system many parents are used to using.
We will have the new Parent Portal for you as soon as we can get it up and running and will send you information when it's ready. We appreciate your patience as we work through the implementation process.
In the meantime, you can watch this video to get an idea of what the portal will look like, and you can download it to your phone so you have it when it's ready. We've included the icon to help you identify it in the App Store/Google Play.
Nominate a Legendary Teacher!
Help us celebrate the Legendary Teachers in our Amphi community!
Each year, the Legendary Teacher Day organization collects tributes to teachers who have made a difference in students' lives. From those submissions, they choose a Legendary Teacher from each participating district to honor those contributions.
This year, Legendary Teacher Day is Sept. 28.
To participate, reflect on your teachers who pushed you. Reflect on your teachers who held you accountable. And, reflect on your teachers who went above and beyond and invested in your personal success.
Once you have one (or more) in mind, simply click here to submit a tribute.
We’ll announce the district’s Legendary Teacher in October, and we’ll share submitted tributes with our teachers as well.
