Principals' Greeting
Greetings, Hiteon Community!
We want to give a big Hiteon Heart thank you for all the support and patience shown this past school year. We experienced successes and some challenges, yet despite it all, we continued the work that has to be done to ensure our students' safety and educational needs. We moved back to in-person learning and enjoyed having students, staff, and families in our school, bringing Hiteon back to its vibrant life.
We want to thank our hard-working and caring staff, who make a positive difference in our students' lives. Their dedication is outstanding, and our kids are the beneficiaries. Thank you for providing our students with rich and engaging, well-rounded experiences. Also, a special thanks to our PTC and all our amazing volunteers who assist in big and small ways to create a community of learning for all.
Lastly, congratulations to all our Hiteon students for a wonderful and productive year of learning! We wish you all a very happy, safe, and enjoyable summer. Please be sure to take time as a family to talk, play and READ together.
We look forward to seeing you next school year. To those who are leaving us for new places, we wish you all the best!
Kind Regards,
Meghan Warren, Principal
Jenny Read-Emslie, Assistant Principal

7:45am is Arrival Time at Hiteon
Reminder that students SHOULD BE DROPPED OFF AT 7:45AM
Recently more students are being dropped off before 7:45 am. In some cases are early as 7:15. We ask that students be dropped off in the morning between 7:45 to 8:00 am. Classes begin at 8:00 am.
Please do not send students to school before 7:45 am. We have no adult supervision until 7:45, and when students arrive, they go directly to their classrooms or get breakfast.
We appreciate your support on this to ensure the safety of all our students.
Playground Use After School
We need to address the use of the playground after school. Many students and their families stay after school dismissal to play and enjoy time outside with their friends. We absolutely support this activity for our families. Our preference is for parents to supervise this time. We have been getting reports about unsafe behavior during this time. We ask that students follow Hiteon’s playground expectations when they are playing after school. Parents, we are sharing them with you so that you, too, can support this.
Currently, Champions before and after school program utilizes the playground for the students in their care. We must ensure their safety on the playground after school. If we cannot provide this with our current open playground policy in place, we will need to reevaluate the use of the playground immediately after dismissal.
Safe:
Walking and skipping are OK on concrete and bark chips
Running is OK when it is on the grass
Keep the bark chips on the ground
Safe hands, safe feet, personal space—capture games or games with pretend weapons are never allowed
Kind:
Invite everyone to play—all games are open
Show good sportsmanship by following the rules
Respectful:
Keep out of planted areas to let them grow.
Respect the equipment—use equipment the proper way
Thank you all for helping to keep Hiteon’s playground (and students) safe, kind, and respectful.

ANOTHER AWESOME & FUN BOOK FAIR
Our Hiteon Hearts have been filled with Laura Yarnell running our book fair through 2 kids at Hiteon! She jazzes it up by wearing different/awesome costumes every day. We have seen witches, pirates, cowgirls, animals, and so many more.
The kids and staff alike go wild to see what she comes dressed as! It is a blast to see kids peeking in from the hall to see what she has imagined today.
The book fair profits have allowed the library to get thousands of new books, furniture, carts, and prizes for reading challenges!
Her love of getting books in kids hands is genuine. She will be greatly missed.
THANK YOU LAURA!!!!!

Parents Please Consider Joining the Hiteon PTC Board
Have you ever thought of joining our PTC board? Now is the time! We are in desperate need of people to step in to fill some of our key leadership roles for our Hiteon Parent Teacher Club. Two of our key positions have outgoing members. Per our bylaws, to remain an organization we must have a President and VP of Fundraising. If we do not have these positions filled by June, we will have to close down our PTC. That means none of our fun events we are so excited about bringing back will happen. Time is short. We try to vote in new board members in our May and June meetings so that they can participate in our budgeting meeting for the upcoming school year.
Participating on the board is work but it is fun! It gives you such a unique perspective to the workings of our Hiteon community and provides an opportunity for you to help shape our events and programs. It's even more fun when you bring a friend! Co-chairs mean shared work and having a friend with you to share that load is always a good idea. So grab a friend and volunteer for our board today.
For more information contact our President, Kristin Glover at president@hiteonptc.org today!

Free Discard Library Books
Last 2 weeks of school, students will choose a stack of free/ discarded books to take home and keep. They are not library books and do not need to be returned. Please read them and pass them on.
You can tell they are not library books because they will have one of these markings:
