Dear Audubon Families,

Welcome to February! The school year is moving so quickly, and we want to make sure that students are focused and ready for school each day. The following tips and reminders were in our January newsletter, and we are asking that you take some time to review these again.

• Have a routine each night so that your child gets to bed and gets a good night’s sleep
• Get to school on time each day and make sure your child is not getting checked out early and missing instructional time
• Attend school regularly
• Make sure to check FOCUS for current grades and missing assignments - if you need information on how to get connected, please reach out to your child’s teacher
• Communicate with your child’s teacher with any concerns, questions, or ways to help at home. You can also set up a conference to address your questions and concerns
• Revisit and discuss the district’s Code of Conduct https://www.brevardschools.org/site/Default.aspx?PageID=4925
• Continue to read with your child every day
• Stay connected – FOCUS, newsletters, email, Facebook – if you are not receiving information, please reach out to make sure we have the correct contact information
• Revisit the School-Family Compact for Learning https://www.brevardschools.org/Page/18641
• All cell phones must be turned off and in your child’s backpack at all times, and students should not be using or bringing air pods to school
• Cell phones are not be used or out on the school bus. If your child is using a picture of their bus tag to sign-in, once they are signed-in, the cell phone must be put away. Bus tags are needed everyday.

February is a halfway point in the school year and a great time to revisit SOAR expectations. We appreciate the continued support and working collaboratively with our families to guide our students in the right direction. Just a reminder that if you would like to volunteer or attend a field trip, you must be a registered volunteer. When your student joins the Kids Heart Challenge, not only will they raise funds to help kids — and all people — with special hearts, they’ll also learn about their heart health. Activities and interactive technologies make it fun to learn how to keep your heart and brain strong and emphasize both physical and emotional wellness. Plus, your school can earn PE equipment.

Audubon's Kids Heart Challenge is scheduled for February 22nd. Students will participate during their activity time. Envelopes and kick off information will be sent home during PE classes the week of Feb 6th.

This year's Audubon's Science Fair participants enjoyed learning how the scientific process is applied to real world problems. A big thank you goes out to Mr. Brady for assisting with the projects and to Ms. Tonhauser for judging the projects. We are super proud of everyone's efforts, and we look forward to involving more students in the process next year. Way to go Team Audubon!

The application for the Kennedy Middle School Cambridge Programme is open. The application window runs from January 9th to February 24th. A parent information meeting will be held on January 31st at 6:00 in the Kennedy Middle School Cafeteria.

Parents and Families,

I am happy to share some good news with you. Starting on Friday, September 16th, and every Friday after that, you will be able to eat lunch with your child(ren). Here is what you need to do if you want to eat lunch with your child:

1. Make sure you notify your child’s teacher that you are eating lunch with them, so they can meet you at the tables. If you send an email, please do so in enough time for the teacher to see it before lunch.
2. Only Parents and Legal Guardians can eat lunch with their own child(ren).
3. Sign in as a Visitor in the Front Office and obtain a yellow name badge (you are not volunteering; you are visiting for lunch).
4. You will report to the courtyard and wait on your child. The teacher will release your child to this area when he/she is taking his/her students to lunch.
5. This area will be supervised during the entire lunch period.
6. If you are not a registered volunteer, you will need to be escorted on and off campus by a staff member.

Every Friday will be available for parent/child lunch. We have limited seating, so you need to sign up through sign-up genius. The link for that is below:
