SAFETY FIRST
There has been an increase in unsafe practices during school drop-off. At morning drop-off, please do not double park to let your child out of the car. There is lots of space to pull your car in so your child can get out of the car safely and traffic can continue to flow safely. We all have to do our part to keep everyone safe as we arrive to school. It won’t be worth the little bit of time or steps saved if someone gets hit by a car!
AUTHOR VISIT
On January 30th, Sayantani DasGupta the author of the Secrets of the Sky series is coming to Highland Elementary School to talk to all 4th and 5th grade students!
To purchase a book that will be signed by the author during her visit, click HERE.
HIGHLAND’S PARENT CHILD BOOK CHAT
Third through fifth grade students and an adult family member can sign-up for Highland Elementary School’s Parent Child Book Chat. Each will receive a copy of the book to read the book on their own at home. Then on Book Chat night we will discuss the book and eat snacks in the Highland Library from 6:30-7:30 p.m.

PANERA RESTAURANT NIGHT
Friday, February 2nd 4:00-8:00 p.m.
Go out to eat at Panera and support Highland Elementary School all at the same time! Show the Panera Flyer at the restaurant when you order or use FUND4U code for online orders.
Thank you for supporting Highland!
HIGHLAND’S FAMILY MATH NIGHT
Thursday, February 8th 6:00-7:30 p.m.
All Highland families are invited to this fun, free-event! Come out with your Highland student and join in the math activities, games and resources. We are looking forward to seeing you!
PREPARE FOR COLD WEATHER
Be sure your child is dressed appropriately for being outside during cold weather. We will be outside for drop-off, recess, and pick-up unless the temperature is below 15 degrees Fahrenheit.
Students must have snow pants to play in the snow. Without snow pants they will have to stay on the concrete.
Careful driving is required during inclement weather. We see all kinds of unsafe driving moves whenever there is rain or poor weather. Please pay extra attention--better for someone to get a bit wet than to cause an accident.
PARENT-TEACHER CONFERENCES
Friday, February 16 - Day-time Parent Teacher Conferences
Thursday, February 22 - Evening Parent Teacher Conferences
Next week parents/guardians will be sent an email with a link on how to sign-up for Parent Teacher Conferences with Meet the Teacher. Please know that only the parents/guardians names that have a Campus Parent account will appear in Meet the Teacher when scheduling. Please contact the School Office if you need help with setting-up your Campus Parent app.
BOOK FAIR AT CONFERENCES
Our PTA sponsors a book fair fundraiser during Parent Teacher Conferences. After visiting your child’s teacher to learn about your child’s progress, please take some time to come to the Book Fair.
Volunteers are needed to help run the Book Fair. It is an easy job and a great opportunity to meet other parents. These types of events cannot happen without your support!
If you would like to volunteer, please sign-up here: https://ptahighlandschool.wixsite.com/highlandschoolpta/volunteer
