EGE Campus Update
January 12, 2024
Message From The Principal ...
We hope you were able to spend some quality time with your family and friends over the break and that your new year is off to a great start! We have half of the school year behind us, but a busy half upon us! It's an exciting time of year because we really start to see all of the growth that our students have made. You should be receiving or may have already received your child's middle of the year assessments. If you have any questions about those, please feel free to reach out and ask!
Leader in Me Updates and Celebrations
Elm Grove has been a part of FranklinCovey's Leader in Me initiative since 2012 and was designated a Lighthouse School in 2015. In addition to that, for the last few years, we have been recognized as a part of the Lighthouse Academic Honor Roll. We have been awarded this honor again for the 2023-24 school year. To meet this designation, besides continuing to meet the criteria for Lighthouse, we also had to be at or above the 85th percentile for the state's combined proficiency standards (we were in the 94th percentile) and about the 50th percentile for growth. We are super proud of our students and teachers for this achievement!
Other exciting news .... the Leader in Me Symposium will be held in Austin this year. Included with each Leader in Me symposium, participants have the opportunity to visit Leader in Me schools in the area. Elm Grove will be one of the campuses to host visitors. On February 7, we will have about 80 educators from across the state and country visiting classrooms and learning about the things we do to promote leadership in our students. We are extremely excited to share the great things that are happening here at EGE!
I have attached two Leader in Me informational sheets if you are still not sure what the Leader in Me initiative is all about.
Upcoming Weather Updates - Campus Traffic
The district will be monitoring the upcoming winter weather forecasts carefully. If the conditions warrant school closures or late starts, you will be notified as soon as that decision is made. Please watch your phones and emails for updates.
Due to the cold weather, there is an obvious increase in our car rider lines in the mornings and afternoons. To help the lines move quickly and to get your kiddos in the building as quickly as possible in the mornings, we will have both front doors opened. Staff will be directing students at the doors and will not be opening car doors. There will be someone available if they are having trouble, but they do not need to wait for an adult to open the car door. They can get out and go to the nearest open door.
Philanthropy - School Wildly Important Goal (WIG)
Please remember that we are working as a school to reach 1,000 service hours. Make sure you are turning in your community service logs to your teachers! (attached)
Also, be sure to get your CANS OF SOUP in for our January Philanthropy Project!
As always, thank you for your continued support. Stay warm over this long weekend!
Kathy Faulks, Principal
