CVU Celebrations
November 11, 2022 (Last Celebrations until December!)
Dear CVU Community: It's hard to believe that we are only one week out from break, and as this is the final Celebrations before Thanksgiving, I'd like to use this space to express gratitude. First, on this Veterans Day, thank you to all of those in our community who serve or have served. Students, you might be surprised at the number of your teachers and staff who are/were in the military.
Second, I want to call attention to the efforts and accomplishments we saw on display last week...and the ones that will continue through this weekend. From Amelie to XC New Englands to the Championship football game in Rutland tomorrow (featuring Cheer, too!), we celebrate the courage it takes to perform after years of training. And while the events are a joy to watch, nothing is better than seeing you embrace these risks together. Today, I asked one student to name the best part of rehearsing and training. She thought for a moment and then said, "Doing it all with my friends."
Finally, I also want to celebrate the times when we fall short of our collective goals. Trust me on this one--when we are in the moment, we never know when the low times become the strengths that lift us to something greater in the future.
See you in December Redhawks!
Upcoming Events
For Families of Seniors in the College Process: The Direction Center is getting ready to send Quarter 1 Transcripts to supplement submitted college applications. Quarter 1 scores from JumpRope have recently been converted to Alpha-Based scores and posted to PowerSchool. These are available for you to view in your PowerSchool account. Please look at these posted grades and then communicate with your School Counselor that they are ready to send to your colleges if you have already applied. Soon after we receive notification from you that you've reviewed those scores and they accurately represent what has been posted in JumpRope for your Q1 score, we will send your Quarter 1 Transcript to your prospective colleges. If we have not heard from you by Noon on Tuesday, November 15th, we will assume that your Q1 transcript is ready to be sent and we will be submitting that transcript as is. If you have any difficulty in viewing your Q1 grades in PowerSchool, or any concerns that there is an inaccuracy, please reach out to your school counselor before Tuesday at Noon for assistance.
Student Council is hosting its 1st annual Turkey Trot 5k! Sign up to run Saturday, November 19th at CVU with fellow students and community members. Celebrate the season of giving with bringing non-perishables upon your arrival for local families in need. Donations will go to the Hinesburg Food Shelf.

This week the RoboHawks went to Charlotte Central School and Hinesburg Community School to meet with the First Lego League teams that we've helped to establish in those schools. While we were there, we gave demonstrations of our robots from current and past seasons, and helped the kids with programming challenges! We have continued to work on the hardware and software of our robot by starting a new linear slide prototype using drawer slides. We have also been improving the software running on our bot by adding more autonomous functions! We released a YouTube video about all of the intake prototypes we've made so far, and you can watch it here. Earlier this week, our championship banner arrived and we were able to hang it up in the design tech room!
