Student Spotlight: Hilary B
Hilary is a Senior at West Ridge High School. Hilary took her first Niswonger Online class the summer before her sophomore year. She has completed ASL 1, ASL 2, Medical Terminology, and Digital Photography through Niswonger Online. She is currently enrolled in AP Literature and Composition through AP Access for ALL.
Hilary says, "My Niswonger Online experience has been great! I really enjoy being able to get ahead in high school to better prepare myself for my future career. Having the opportunity to take these classes is extremely helpful to my schedule. I have time to complete all the assignments, while still participating in school activities. These classes helped me finish up all of my high school credits early, giving me the opportunity to work on my college degree early."
Teacher Spotlight: Mrs. Evie LaFollette
Mrs. LaFollette has been teaching psychology for Niswonger Online for the last ten years. Her class is unique. After completing the majority of the course, students explore topics of interest in psychology through four weeks of "student choice" modules. We love that this offers students an opportunity to take charge of their learning!
Mrs. LaFollette teaches biology at Dobyns-Bennett High School in Kingsport, Tennessee. She was one of six teachers chosen for the 2023 Robert E. Yager Exemplary Teaching Award by the National Science Teaching Association, an award that recognizes teachers who successfully use innovation and excellence in their classroom. You can read more about this special honor in the news article linked below.
