GREETINGS FROM DR. BROWN
Dear Parents,
Spring is almost here!
March is Women's History and Disability Awareness Month. In February, we honored all secondary students with honor roll. Congratulations to all students who earned honor roll. Families will begin receiving student certificates and pins soon.
We are happy to announce the 12th grade graduation will be held Thursday, June 8th at 6:30 pm at Wilson High School. All six academies will share the same graduation date. Please make sure your child does not fail any of their Individualized Graduation Plan (IGP) courses. Stay in contact with your child's teacher to make sure they remain On-Track to graduate in June.
Parents and students are required to have a signed master agreement on file at the academy in order to continue being enrolled. Reminder, students with out a MA will not be able to earn attendance credit. Students must be able to earn attendance in order to remain part of the Arts and Entertainment.
PASS: Credit recovery is available at AEVA. ELA and Math are the only subjects that we currently have available for students. Our 1st session begins March 6th for all 12th and 11th grade students who need to retake ELA and/or Math courses.
NEED EXTRA HELP AEVA'S GOT YOU! Saturday school began on February 4. If you would like your child to attend, please speak to your child's teacher.
ASSESSMENTS - students took their "Middle of the Year" assessments. Please ask your child's teacher how your child scored. Teachers are waiting to have DATA CHATS with parents.
2ND GRADE OLSAT TEST: All 2nd grade students are taking the OLSAT test in March. All parents need to register to have their child test. All testing is In Person!
IMPORTANT: Students in grade 3 through 11 need to have a district device in order to take the SBAC state test. If you do not have a district device be sure to request one as soon as possible from https://device.lausd.net/.
Change the World with PROJECT BASED LEARNING. All students have been given an opportunity to design a project set around challenges and/or problems that you could face in the real world. Ask your child what is the PBL project. All projects are due March 30th.
Parents, please be reminded that students can only remain in our Independent Study program if they complete their assignments and attend classes. In addition, please remember the agreed Master Agreement responsibilities for all.
Thanks for being an essential member of our AEVA family!
