Archer Glen Elementary | December 15, 2023
A Message from Your Principal
Dear Archer Glen Families,
The weeks leading into the winter break are quite a time. On top of all the important learning that happens, December brings school assemblies, music concerts, and classroom celebrations of all sorts. It is super busy, but a lot of fun!
With your help, we also continue to make great strides in providing the best education possible for the students. Our educator community, including our teachers, instructional assistants, front office, and operational staff, have shown incredible dedication to this mission. Every day, I get to see how they support our kids, mine included, grow in their academic skills, social lives, and continue to build the habits that lead to a successful future. Thank you!
I would also like to give a huge thanks to all the parents and guardians out there. You don’t get a break from being a parent. It’s every day, sometimes all hours of the day. It isn’t always easy, but the work we do, we do together. If you ever need assistance or help solve a problem, please reach out. We are one team and are here to help.
I’d also like to thank all of our volunteers who help make our school a loving and vibrant place. We love having you here! If you’d like to join the volunteer team, please reach out to archerglenvolunteercoordinator@gmail.com and we’ll get you connected.
Finally, today we unveiled a new mural that will hang in our library. The images represent different aspects of our community, such as our love for nature and the outdoors, our agricultural roots, and our dedication to learning. The words were chosen by our students to represent who we are and who we strive to become: leaders, brave, kind, creative, and determined. This project came together from the contributions by Archer Glen students, SHS art students, teachers, and PAC. Thank you all!
Have a wonderful break and the happiest of holidays!
Mr. Shuckerow

Attendance Matters!
Attending school regularly helps children feel better about school, and is important for academic success and social well-being - even for our youngest learners! During the winter months our district often sees increases in student absences across grade levels -- particularly after longer breaks such as our upcoming Winter Break.
To help your student be successful at school, it’s important to have a good routine at home that leads to regular attendance. When getting ready to come back to school after the Winter Break, here are some tips that can help re-establish your “time for school” routine:
Set a regular bedtime and morning routine
Lay out clothes and pack backpacks/lunches the night before.
Develop a backup plan for getting to school in the event of a transportation issue.
Try to schedule non-emergency medical appointments or extended trips for days when school isn’t in session, or during after school hours.
If your child seems anxious about coming to school, talk with your child’s teacher to partner on helping your child feel comfortable and excited about learning.
If you have additional challenges or concerns that prevent regular attendance, please contact our school office so we can assist you in connecting to resources that will support good school attendance.
In addition, we want to support families in being more aware of their child’s attendance. Beginning next week, families of students with declining attendance will begin receiving updates via email letters or by phone. The goal with these notifications is to ensure all parents/guardians are provided with timely information as our partners in improving school attendance.
We hope our students and families enjoy the upcoming Winter Break, and we look forward to welcoming all of our students back to school on Wednesday, January 3.
